Assimilation in the old city of Zfat (Safed)

B"H

I saw some posters in the old city of Zfat (northern Israel) announcing a big gathering tomorrow night. The local Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu and Baruch Marzel are going to participate and the public is invited. The subject is:

"Too much assimilation in the old city of Zfat".

The local city is mainly religious and you have many many Chassidim living here. Besides the biggest groups, Chabad and Breslov, you also have Gur, Vishnitz, Zanz, Lelov or Chernobyl. Furthermore Belz and Karlin - Stolin. According to what I see, I don't think that there is too much assimilation but the old city is rather turning into a haredi center.

I would like to hear what the locals have to say and may go to the event tomorrow. It is going to take place at the "Yigal Alon House" and is supposed to start at 7.30pm.
