Exactly five years ago, one of the two present Satmarer Rebbes, Rabbi Aharon Teitelbaum, came to Jerusalem in order to lay the cornerstone for a new Satmarer neighbourhood called Kiryat Yoel. On that Shabbat in August, he also gave a Tish at Kikar Supnik where I went with a friend but we didn't succeed to getting in because of the unbelievable masses of people.
After a few months, the construction site turned into an abandoned place and it seemed as if nothing was moving anymore. Could it be that Satmar ran out of money and thus had stopped the project ? Nevertheless, some time ago Satmar caught up and today the two Kiryat Yoel buildings are almost ready.
