Is MEGILLATH EICHA still being studied in the days of Meshiach ?

B"H

Is MEGILLATH EICHA still being studied in the days of Meshiach ?

An interesting question, as most of us think that, once Meshiach has arrived, the Torah be will the same and valid eternally. However, Yom Kippur will be cancelled because there is no need for atonement anymore. People won’t even think about going against G – d. Jews and Gentiles alike.

And yes, in the days of Meshiach, there will still be Jews and Gentiles but no more Gentile idol – worship such as Buddhism, Krishna or Christianity. With the arrival of Meshiach, the world will recognize ONE G – d.

But coming back to the question:

Is the Jewish world still going to study the "Book of Eicha" after Meshiach’s arrival ?

The answer I found is YES. The Megillah is part of the Tanach and nothing from the Tanach may be erased, added or changed. And it is especially the study of the "Book of Eicha" making us even more appreciate the Ge’ulah (Redemption). Otherwise we may forget in what great times we live once Meshiach is there.

The Spies, the Jews and the Ge’ulah

 Seen in Jerusalem

Photo: Miriam Woelke
B"H

This week’s Torah Parasha is called SHLACH LECHA (literally: send to you). G – d didn’t command Moshe sending out spies to Eretz Israel but the people wanted to know where they are going to. In the end, Moshe made up his mind and sent out the spies turning out to be a big mistake.

The Sefat Emet (Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh Leib Alter, a former Gerrer Rebbe who lived from 1847–1905) brings up an interesting thought in his commentary on the Parasha. He says that the Jews were not ready yet entering the land. For whatever reason but it just wasn’t their time.

The same happens with our present exile (Galut): If the Jews really desire to return to G – d, He would bring us a speedy and immediate redemption (Ge’ulah). At first, things may seem to move slowly. Just like the Jews in the desert wandering around for 40 years. However, suddenly there could be a fast change and G – d just causes things to happen within a second. The same with Meshiach: First nothing seems to happen and suddenly everything goes so fast we would have never dreamt of.

This is just a brief idea but I would like to mention another thought: The question is whether the Jews used their G – dgiven FREE WILL by asking to send out the spies. So, did Moshe use his FREE WILL by giving in. The spies, on the other hand, where also using their FREE WILL. Did everything just depend on the FREE WILL or was it all G – d’s plan ? Nevertheless, when using our FREE WILL we should do this with using our Chochmah (Wisdom) and not by following our own preferences in life, as this may have caused the spies to give a negative report.

Gimmel Tammuz - The Yahrzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe

B"H

Tomorrow is the 3rd day of the Jewish month of Tammuz - Gimmel be'Tammuz, and the Jewish world is commemorating the Yahrzeit of the seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson who passed away on this day in June 1994.

In Judaism, anniversaries (Yahrzeits) of someone's death are celebrated with a memorial service, a meal, many guests and speeches about the deceased. Thus, his soul is rising to a higher level.

Some time ago, I spoke with a Chabad – Meshichist about this date.
Meshichistim are those within the Chabad group who believe that the seventh and last Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, is the Meshiach.

As soon as I mentioned the word "Yahrzeit" to the Meshichist, he almost fainted. Chabad – Meshichistim believe that the Rebbe has no Yahrzeit and never died. Instead, 3rd Tammuz is the day when Rebbe Schneerson became invisible. He is still around but just in another higher dimension where we cannot see him. When the time has come, the Rebbe is returning into our dimension and revealing himself as Meshiach. Moreover, some Chabadnik - Meshichistim told me that when the Rebbe is going to reveal himself, his home 770 is flying over to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. I am just wondering what the Rebbe himself had to say about this.:-)

I found the reaction of the Meshichist quite amusing but I also asked myself how people can really believe such claims. How far do people go in order to believe something ? Do they just react this way because they want to believe it ? Maybe in order to escape the crucial reality where Rebbe Schneerson died in June 1994 and since, Chabad has been without leadership.

The Meshiach Stairs in Zfat (Safed)

Last Friday, our "Nutrition Rambam Seminar" offered a trip through the old city of Zfat / Upper Galilee. Our tour began with the old Zfat legend that when Meshiach is coming to Zfat, he is going to walk up the stairs of a certain small alleyway. The photo shows Rabbi Mordechai Siev explaining the story to us.

And here are the famous "Meshiach Stairs" in the old city of Zfat.
One thing for sure, Meshiach needs to be in good shape in order to walk up those stairs ! Unfortunately, no one could tell us where exactly this legend is coming from.

We continued our tour and then we saw ...

HIM.
Zfat is full of all different kinds of characters and this guy, according to his clothes, is definitely one of them.

Let's get it straight !

B"H

This blog is a Jewish religious Orthodox blog run by someone (myself) Orthodox although I may have my personal struggles. Just as every other Jew too.

I used to study in a Litvishe seminary, went something off the derech but, for more than ten years, I am on my way back to somewhere. However, there are Jewish principles I have no doubt about. I live in a Jewish state called Israel; some of you may disagree that our country is a Jewish state.

I am not anti - Zionist but I do believe that the present State of Israel is not the Jewish main goal. Our main goal should be Meshiach and all the concepts stated in Talmud Sanhedrin or, among many others, by the Rambam (Maimonides, 1135 - 1204). Thus the democracy and the Knesset are temporarily because the Land was given to the Jews by G - d in order to live according to the Torah. Jews have a certain purpose in this world which we should fulfill. There is no escape anyway even if you are the most secular of leftist Jew. The Jewish soul is being judged differently by G - d than the one of a Gentile. Does this sound like rassism ? If the answer is yes, complain to G - d, to Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi (Chabad founder) and to hundreds of other Gedolim.

I think that it is important for a Jew to live in Israel although the country is not run according to Torah law.
Ups, Torah law ? This probably sounds to some people like IRAN and the MULLAHS ! Not at all and whoever knows Jewish history may look at the two Temple periods. Or did Moshe complain about living in "Iran" and loosing his personal freedom ?

Throughout history, the Jews have been always struggling for survival. Pogroms by the church, invaders, living in the Diaspora, anti - Semitism, you name it. Despite all attacks, we always remained ONE people. Thousands of Jews ran away from Judaism and are still doing so until today (e.g. Intermarriage). G - d said in the Torah that the Jewish nation will never completely vanish from this planet. We will always exist and somehow bring about Meshiach. We received the Land of Israel as one nation and should do anything to keep it Jewish.

I have nothing at all against Arabs living in Israel and I don't agree with Rabbi Me'ir Kahane to deport them all to Jordan or elsewhere. Who I do agree with is the present Knesset member Aryeh Eldad (Ichud HaLe'umi) who says that Palestinians may live in Israel but they need to recognize the Jewish state and be loyal to it.

Everyone is pointing at the Palestinians and all kinds of terror acts but let me briefly mention a second danger to the Jewish state:
Invading Christian missionaries and their millions of dollars. The Evangelists, for instance. Those people running pro - Israel websites but only for the Christian reason of bringing all the Jews to Israel and thus cause a schizophrenic second coming of a Jew who died on a cross. Especially when fanatic Christians come to Jerusalem and smile at Orthodox Jews with a Happy Clappy Face. And in those situations I do even prefer the Arabs.

Just a Thought: "Israel and the World"

B"H

It doesn't come as a total surprise that the majority of the world is against Israel. Not only against Israel but also against Jews; in particular against religious Jews.

When I was still in Yeshiva, we were always taught that the Jews brought morality into the world and this is why we are hated. In ancient times and before the Torah, the Gentile nations did whatever they wanted. They killed, robbed and raped without any conscience. Comes along the Torah and talks about a creator and no more murdering and robbing. Later on, the Prophets kept on telling us that before Meshiach is coming, the world will be entirely against the Jews and Israel. Basically they will try to destroy us, fail and then Meshiach is coming. Of course, there are different commentaries on that but what we see (or have seen throughout history) that the world is against us. No matter what we do, we are wrong and the rest of the world is right.

Why can't we Jews just be like the other nations and always follow our own "strange" laws ? The answer is simple: Because Jews have a special G - dgiven mission in life. Everyone does; including the Gentiles. Still, Jews have special Tikkunim (soul rectifications) to fulfill in order to bring about Meshiach.

Weren't we told by the Prophets that the world will be against us no matter what we do ? Now you can think about whether the nations are doomed to be against us or whether they are still able to follow their own free will.

I am not at all surprised about all kinds of propaganda against Israel but I don't see Meshiach at the doorstep although we wish he may be.

Longing for Beit HaMikdash (the Temple)

B"H

When you walk through Jerusalem's Jewish Quarter in the Old City today, you will mostly find antique sites from the Second Temple period. Here and there are some remains of the city wall from the period of the First Temple, however, everything else concentrates on the Second Temple. The Kotel HaMa'aravi - West(ern) Wall or the nearby Ophel. You can join tours taking you 30 meters below where the original market street in front of the Temple used to be. Where we stand today is about 30 meters on top of the original site where Rabbi Akivah or Rabbi Gamliel used to walk.

It is very emotional walking through the tunnel system underneath the Kotel as well as seeing the stones (from the top of the wall) thrown down by the Romans during the Second Temple destruction. On some of those stones you can still see black spots from the fire when the Temple was burning.

In the Ophel, right next to the Kotel Plaza, you can walk along the ancient shopping mall in front of the Second Temple. Where the Jews used to buy their sacrifices for the Temple. You can sit there and imagine how it used to be in those days. Busy streets, Jews buying sacrifices and walking up to the Temple. Going to the Mikweh (ritual bath) and then handing in the animal to be sacrificed.

What a great feeling must this have been and how could the people 2000 years be so ignorant of all the Shechinah (G - d's presence) surrounding the Temple. At least in those early days of the Second Temple when corruption among the Cohanim did not yet take place.
How could the Jews start fighting when they had a Temple ? When the Prophet Jeremiah (Yirmeyahu) was warning them.

The question is if we today would be so much better. We may think so but when it comes to fights, arguments and priorities we are probably not so much better than our ancient ancestors. Is it of any use sitting in the Ophel and dreaming about the good old days with the
Second Temple ? Of course all those ancient sites and stones provide the visitor with a certain emotional feeling but how about concentrating on the future ? As we know from the Talmud, the Second Temple didn't include such a high level of the Shechinah as the First Temple did. There was no more Aron HaKodesh (ark with the tablets), all the great prophets were gone, the Shamir (a kind of small animal King Salomon used for cutting the stones of the First Temple) had vanished and all the other visible miracles were gone.
The Talmud Tractate Yoma explains us that only a bit more than 40,000 Jews came back to Israel from the Babylonian Diaspora. Hundreds of thousands of other Jews preferred staying in Babylon where they had built up their businesses. Why returning to Jerusalem where there are only ruins ? The result was that the Second Temple has never reached the level of Kedusha (holiness) as the First Temple did.

Instead of dreaming about a glorious past we should concentrate on the future; meaning on Meshiach and the Third Temple. Not looking back in history but imagining us sitting in the Third Temple and we should all do something that we get there very soon.

The Meshiach at the Beach

B"H

Suffering from a cold, as weather is changing in Israel. The mornings in Jerusalem are still cold but when you you leave the house for work, you mostly do so without warmer clothes, because after one or two hours it is boiling hot. This is exactly what I did. Not wearing too much but going out into the cold and catching one.

In the late afternoon as well as in the evening, I was at the beach in Tel Aviv yesterday. Just laying there and breathing some nice humid air. A drunk South African tourist was staggering around and almost fell on me.

"Wanna hear something funny, he asked. The Meshiach has just appeared to me a few meters away. There is a guy walking around at the beach claiming he is the Meshiach and he told me to go into the water in order to find healing".

I also wanted to see the Meshiach but couldn't find him anymore. He was gone but, hey..., what about my healing from the cold ?

New Riots on the Temple Mount

B"H

The Jerusalem police is on high alert. Some Jewish right - wingers had announced a special prayer on the Temple Mount and the Palestinians went mad. As soon as the Jews go onto the Temple Mount to look around, the Arabs just see another attack. It is already a shame that Jews are not to pray on the Temple Mount but only to walk around. Israeli police is not letting Jews pray at the holy site.
As soon as the news about the new prayer was spreading, the Palestinians called for protection. Muslims should come and protect their "holy site" and Mohammed.
Mohammed, by the way, was never in Jerusalem and Islam has absolutely nothing to do with the Jewish Temple Mount. Today the reign over the Har HaBayit is just a statement of political power and the Arab world knows how to use it by spreading the rumour that there were never any Jewish Tempels on the Temple Mount. However, they can lie as much as they want and try to rewrite history but they cannot change a historical fact.

This morning, the Israeli police got attacked by Arab rioters.

How the Palestinians have been trying to destroy any Jewish sign on the Temple Mount

Tempel Mount Tour

From the Jewish point of view, there are different opinions if today, we (Jews) are allowed to enter the Temple Mount (Har HaBayit). After the Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans and the ashes of the Red Hefer (Parah Adumah) disappeared, we are unable to cleanse ourselves from spiritual as well as from physical impurity.
The national religious movement is very much in favour of visiting the Temple Mount today. "We cannot just leave it to the Arabs but have to show Jewish presence !" - so their claim. Haredim, however, are strictly against walking around on the Temple Mount, as we are impure and don't know for sure where the sites are where only the Cohanim (Priests) were allowed to walk. "First the Meshiach has to come and then we will be able to purify ourselves !"

Tisha Be'Av in Jerusalem

B"H

Tomorrow night (Wednesday), the Jewish fast day "Tisha Be'Av" is starting. Until Thursday night we are mourning the destruction of the two Temples in Jerusalem. It says that with the arrival of Meshiach and the building of the Third Temple, this day is going to turn into a day of joy.

The right - wing "Women in Green" including the activist Nadja Matar have been organizing a "March around the Old City walls" for many years. Every Tisha Be'Av, Jews from all over Israel are meeting in front of the Jerusalem municipality building, listening to Megillath Eicha and then starting the march. From the municipality, passing Damascus Gate (Sha'ar Shechem), the Flower Gate (Sha'ar HaPrachim) to the Kotel (Western Wall).

This year, the Eicha reading is taking place in front of the American Consulate due to Barak Hussein Obama's plan to divide Jerusalem.

I participated in the event many times and enjoyed myself. Especially because of being given the opportunity walking around the Old City walls freely and being protected by the army. Usually the Arabs stare but don't do anything.

The only thing bothering me was the polictical side of the event. Politicians talking, Nadja Matar yelling against the government, etc. It doesn't give me a Tisha Be'Av atmosphere and I think that particularly this day deserves more than "only" politics. Last year I participated in the entire "Aish HaTorah" programme organized by Aish and the Heritage House (free Jewish hostel and brainwashing factory). It was nice but I found the monolog of Rabbi Yom Tov Glazer too exaggerated and Rabbi Shmuel Schwartz tried his best to handle his lecture. I suffered and almost fell asleep if hadn't been sitting on the hard floor.

This year, I am going to try a Mea Shearim Synagogue and see how spirituality and Tisha Be'Av mourning goes there.

Chizkiyahu was supposed to be Meshiach

B"H

The Gemara (rabbinic discussions) in Talmud Tractate Sanhedrin 94a teaches us that G - d's original plan was making King Chizkiyahu (Chezekiah) Meshiach.

Chizkiyahu was the son of Achaz and the father of Menashe; two extremely evil kings in the world of Tanach. Between the two, only Chizkiyahu was righteous and G - dfearing. He banned any kind of idol - worship and destroyed all symbols and statues connected to it.

During his reign, the Assyrians under Sancheiriv conquered the land of Israel and sent ten of the twelve tribes into exile (Galut). Those ten tribes used to live in northern Israel and after Sancheiriv took over the whole area, he wanted Jerusalem as well. His army was already outside the city walls and ready to reak through, as one night 185.000 Assyrian soldiers suddenly died in a plague (see Kings II, 18 - 19). Sancheiriv escaped back to Ninveh and kabbalistic literature tells us that he actually was a reincarnation of the evil King Nimrod who already wanted to destroy Avraham.

The Prophets Yechezkel (38 - 39) and Zechariah (14) describe the time and especially the War of Gog and Magog before Meshiach is arriving. Many commentators such as Ben Yehoyada, however, considered the war with the Assyrians as Gog and Magog. The last Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson (died in 1994) saw the Second World War as Gog and Magog and now Meshiach would be right on the doorstep.

Other sources rather see the "Gog and Magog" concept as something internal. It is our inner war overcoming the Yetzer HaRah (evil inclination).

Chizkiyahu was supposed to be the Meshiach but then G - d had His "doubts" and judgement (Din) overcame him instead of mercy (Rachamim). Wasn't King David always singing praises to Him ? David composed Tehillim (Psalms) and prayers. And David himself never became Meshiach. How can it be that Chizkiyahu should be the Meshiach when he, despite all the miracles happening to him, never sang a song of praise to G - d ? Did Chizkiyahu ever thank G - d or didn't he rather took everything for granted ?

Singing and praising G - d has the power to arouse such joy that this alone could cause the coming of Meshiach. The Maharal of Prague commentated that Chizkiyahu's joy didn't seem to be that great and he didn't sing any praises to G - d after the miraculous destruction of the enemy's army. And this is, the Gemara says, the reason why eventually Chizkiyahu didn't become Meshiach.

"Day of the Bones - Yom HaAzamot"

B"H

This coming Wednesday (including Tuesday night), Israel is celebrating its 61 Independence Day. Then most Israelis go out into parks or to the beach and celebrate the day with barbecues. Most Israelis, but not all.

Every year we hear the same discussions why many Haredim in the ultra - orthodox neighbourhood of Mea Shearim and other neighbourhoods of Jerusalem ignore the Independence Day. For those Haredim it is just another ordinary week day. Especially Chabad, Satmar and the Neturei Karta see the day as "The Day of the Bones" and as a day of mourning. The name "Day of the Bones" (Yom HaAzamot) is a play on the Hebrew words "Yom HaAzma'ut (Independence Day).

Mea Shearim has two groups not recognizing the present State of Israel: The Neturei Karta as well as the Edah HaCharedit. The Edah is an organization consisting of the chassidic groups Satmar, Toldot Aharon, Dushinsky, Spinka, parts of Breslov, students of the Vilna Gaon, Toldot Avraham Yitzchak and the Mishkenot HaRoim. The Neturei Karta branch in Mea Shearim only consists of a few families living in and close to Beit Hungarin backyard right at Mea Shearim Street. Their most famous activities took place in the fifties and sixties when their two charismatic Rabbis Amram Blau (Bloi) and Aharon Katzenellenbogen were in charge. Today, as in the past, they are not an official member of the Edah HaCharedit but are being represented through the Satmarer chassidim.

According to the two groups, Israel can only exist when the time of the Meshiach has come. Anything else, as the present State today, is a Chilul HaShem (blasphemy). Israel could never be ruled by worldly law but only by Torah and Halachot. As long as Meshiach hasn't arrived, they mostly use the Yiddish language and not the Holy Tongue (Hebrew).

Neturei Karta, Toldot Aharon or Satmar and others do not use state - owned public transportation. They founded their own medical care systems and they refuse to receive any social benefit from the Israeli government. Instead rich Chassidim from abroad, especially New York, support them financially.

Whoever walks through the streets of Mea Shearim on Independence Day will not find any Israeli flags hanging on buildings. There is absolutely no sign of a holiday. Life goes on as normal. 200 meters far away in Yaffa Road, people celebrate, but not so in the chassidic hood. Kids go to school and shops are open.

For many years, I used to celebrate the Israeli Independence Day. I even went to the usual great event, including the Hallel prayer, at Jerusalem's Great Synagogue. Usually their choir is singing and the present Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi speaking. I still celebrate the Independence Day in a way but not as much as I used to.
The change came when more and more people started questioning if this is really the state we want. A state for religious Jews ? The national religious didn't celebrate the day right after many settlers were kicked out of Gush Katif by the Sharon government. Then Olmert came and, again, we didn't have a reason to be proud of our country. Left – wingers and corruption. Now we have Bibi Netanyahu and I admit that he is a better solution than Zipi Livni would have been. However, My celebrations usually include the free visit to the Israel Museum and some hiking. That' s it.

I am not a great Israeli patriot but I am glad that we Jews do have our own country. Especially nowadays with rising anti – Semitism and the outcry for the destruction of the Jews. In particular by Arab countries.

Yesterday, I went through the ultra – orthodox neighbourhood Ge'ulah in Jerusalem and I saw one of the latest Pakshivil (news posters). It really caught my attention and after reading it, I must admit that I couldn't agree more with what it says:

Again, the Zionists are going to celebrate their Independence Day.
Why are they so proud ?
Of men and women dancing together ?
Of a corrupt government giving more and more rights and land to Christian missionaries ?
Of Jews traveling abroad and marrying Goim ?
What kind of a Jewish country is this ?

This Fakshivili is totally right. Especially the new Netanyahu government is accepting millions of donation Dollar form fanatic Christians such as the Evangelists. And the purpose of the Evangelists is the destruction of the Jewish people ! Bringing them to Israel, converting them to Christianity and thus, causing the second coming of their false Meshiach J.

Most of our latest governments didn't stand up against the Christians as once Menachem Begin did. Next month the pope is coming which is even worse. A German pope who used to serve in the Hitler youth and in the German army. And what do important rabbis from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate (Rabbanut) do ? They couldn't stop themselves from meeting the pope. Instead each of the rabbis wants to be in the front row.

Thousands of young Israelis love to travel to the Far East or South American. Many times they come back with a Gentile wife they married on the way. Germans, Indians, South Americans, Philippinas, Chinese, Russians, … Today you can see anything in Israel and those Gentile spouses demand more and more rights. Do they belong here ?
Why are all these Jews ready to marry Gentiles and start looking for other religions ? Instead of checking out they should start checking into Judaism.

What we also have in Israel today is thousands of non – Jewish children where the father is Jewish but the mother is not. Children from mixed couples where the children serve in the army. And those children celebrate Independence Day.

In what kind of a country do we living ?
Is this what G – d wants us to do ?
Although famous rabbis as the Ramban consider it a Mitzwah living in the Land of Israel, bringing in all the Goyim is definitely not one of those Mitzwot but the way to destruction.
In this respect, we cannot be proud of our country and I am not willing to hold a flag with a child from a mixed marriage standing right next to me.

"Jews are going to Hell !" – Tuvia Singer, Part 4

B"H

After two brilliant lectures, Tuvia Singer seemed to be much weaker last night. Many subjects he mentioned were mostly a repetition from the week before. Nevertheless, Tuvia had a few good points I would like to list.

The lecture hall at Jerusalem's "Israel Center" was crowded but not as much as the three times before. What I noticed it was that only very few Christians showed up this time. The lecture turned into an almost entire Jewish event.

Tuvia Singer zoomed right into the subject and stated that there are 1000 messianic communities worldwide. The goal of the "Jews for J." is to missionize Jews and turn them into believing Christians. In local phone books, messianic communities are not listed under "churches" but under "synagogues". Their structure doesn't make sense at all, as the majority of their members are not Jewish but of Christian origin. There are ideas and communities where only Jews take over leading positions in messianic communities and keep the Christians as "slaves".

"When You are Jewish and don't believe in J. as Your Meshiach, then you will go to hell !"

"If you don't accept J. as Your Meshiach, you cannot be saved. The consequence will be You burning in hell !"

These statements are supported by all churches and I don't need to explain the meaning any further.
I am going to hell and that's it !
According to the church, there is no discussion about it.

Singer took the Nazi killer Adolph Eichmann as an example.
Shortly before his execution in the Israeli town of Ramle, Eichmann confessed in the presence of a Catholic priest and thus, was saved from hell. At least according to church theology, he went straight to Paradise (Gan Eden).
The millions of Jews being killed in the Holocaust, however, went to hell because they didn't accept J, as their Meshiach.

What does the Pope have to say about this ? What would Martin Luther say ?
Well, Luther didn't care much about the Jews anyway and had been of the greatest anti – Semites ever. The Catholic church doesn't get tired of proclaiming Pope Pius as a saintly. He helped all the Jews and was so terribly holy.
But what the Vatican after the Second World War did was helping people like Eichmann to escape to South America. Organizing false papers and letting the leading Nazis run away. The Vatican ran a special department for such cases. Everything run by the Pope.
It is irrelevant what the Pope or Luther say but what does G – d say about such a ridiculous concept ? Has one of the church fathers ever raised this question ? Did G – d say that if we don't accept a false Meshiach J., we would end up in hell ?

Christianity is irrelevant to Judaism but Judaism is relevant to Christianity, as it is based on it. Where would the church be without the Jews ? There wouldn't even be a Meshiach, as J. was Jewish.
However, a Gentile should not become part of Christianity and thus, worship idols. A non – Jew should always be a Noachide. Knowing ONE G – d and not believing in any J. !

The churches love to accuse the Rabbis of all evil in this world. Countless Christians told me that Talmudic Rabbis and others first killed J. and then they have been brainwashing the Jews through Halachot because they don't want them to see the "truth".
Well, we all can imagine what their truth is.

Christians don't believe in Jewish Halacha (law) and according to Paul, anything was evil and devil's work anyway.
When anything Jewish is evil and bad, how come the New Testament is based on Judaism and its Torah ? Why is Easter falling together with Pessach (Passover) ?
Doesn't this show that even Chrisians are going according to the Jewish calendar ? Otherwise Easter could be in November.
And who is making up the Jewish calendar ?
The Rabbis.

What is happening when the Meshiach is coming ? What if there are people who don't agree that he really is Meshiach ?
According to Judaism, this could never be the case because, as soon as Meshiach is arriving, the whole world will be on a higher spiritual level and we won't question him. We won't even get such an idea, as we are on a level we have never been before. There won't be any doubt and this is one of the signs for the true Meshiach. .
Why have neither King David nor his son Salomon mentioned any J. in their prophecies ? Does G – d stress in the Torah that, as soon the Meshiach shows up, we have to accept him, otherwise we are going to hell ? There is no such a statement !

Tuvia Singer further mentioned that we have to take the Christian way of thinking into consideration. It may sound absurd to Jews but Christians (especially Catholics) drink J.'s blood, eat the piece of wafer and thus believe that now J. is part of them. Eating his flesh and drinking his blood is like J. entering their bodies. Such a weird concept had already taken place before; in pagan religions.

The subject "Shabbat" was mentioned as well. "Non – Jews are not allowed to keep the Shabbat laws !" Those special Halachot are only meant for the Jews, as the Shabbat is a special covenant between G – d and the Jews. As a matter of fact, it says in the Talmud that in G – d's eyes, a non – Jew keeping Shabbat is worth than a Jew not keeping Shabbat.
G – d has His ways to prevent other nations from choosing the Saturday as a day of rest. The Christians chose the Sunday and the Muslims chose the Friday. Only the Jews stick to the Saturday as Shabbat.
Adventists may claim that they do keep Shabbat. However, they don't keep the Shabbat Halachot.

These explanations why Jews don't accept the Christian Meshiach are not in order to spread hatred against Christians or other people but just to show that especially Christians follow the wrong concepts. According to the Jewish point of view, any Gentile should be following the Seven Noachide Laws.

After Pessach (Passover), Tuvia Singer is planning to continue his series. Then with deeper lectures about the sayings of the Prophets such as Isiah (Yeshayahu), Jeremiah (Yirmeyahu), Zechariah, Micha, and others.

2. Session

The third session held by Tuvia Singer took place at the Orthodox Union (Israel Center) in Jerusalem. There, Tuvia Singer is giving a four week lecture series on why Jews don't believe in the Christian Meshiach. And, as usual, at least a hundred people had found their way into the lecture hall. The interest is enormous and also Christians were invited. Many members of the Israel Center, however, weren't too excited of having Christians in the building and there was a controversy before the series.

Among the participants was Benjamin Kluger, a staff member of the Israeli counter missionary organization "Yad LeAchim". The fact catching my eye was that many Christians had put on some kind of a Jewish appearance. Either a Kipa and even Zizit. Some of the Christian women had covered their hair with a typical Israeli Midpachat.
Either they don't want to openly appear as Christians but, otherwise, many Christian dress up Jewish on purpose in order to undermine their claim that they are Jewish. Telling other Jews that they (the Christians) are Jews as well in order to missionize for Jews for J. The worst is when they start going on your nerves and embraces the Jews just because they are Jewish. Then this turns into too much "love" and those kind of Christians just start becoming a pain in the neck.

And just like in the previous articles about the Singer series, I want to emphasize that Judaism doesn't reject anyone. No Gentile following the Seven Noachide Laws (believing in ONE G - d, setting up a court system, no murder, no theft, no sexual perversion, no idol worship and not eating a limb from a living animal) and all of those have a place in the World to Come (Olam HaBah). However, believing in J. is not a part of the Seven Noachide Laws. There is only ONE G - d and no son or further representative.

Tuvia Singer started his lecture by stressing that Jews have to understand that there are countless Christian groups and split offs. Much more than in Judaism such as Orthodox, Reform, etc. We Jews mostly tend to look at our own religions and think that all the others work the same way but we are mistaken. Why do Jews not believe in the Christian Meshiach ? This was the main question which is being repeatedly discussed. Last Sunday night, in his third session, Singer explained Christian theology with its blood, sin and hell concept. The church here claims a Passuk (verse) from the Book of Leviticus (Sefer Vayikra) 17:11, teaching about the Temple sacrifices. All the time blood and only blood - this is how the church interprets the Passuk from the Torah. Only through the blood man is awaking G - d's mercy and find salvation.

To this statement alone I would have a lot to say and it is always an amazing how the church misinterprets sayings from the Torah. Misinterpreting and faking in order to keep the members in the church. There are always Christians who are seriously searching for a relationship with G - d but are being lied at from the church leaders. How is a Christian raised regarding his belief ?
Anything he hears about Torah, it undergoes an inner "Christian filter". This is how Christians are taught to think - through their church filter and it always takes some time until they are open to listen and to start understanding different ideologies and ideas. The church doesn't allow a thinking person to ask questions and claims that only believe would be enough. Judaism teaches its members to think and to ask questions.

In order to reach G – d's salvation (pardon), NO sacrifice has to be brought ! And sacrificing people is totally rejected and forbidden by Him. At several places, the Torah forbids idol worship sacrifices such as offering human beings. Usually Christians then refer to the story with Avraham and Yitzchak where the father went out to sacrifice his son. This is true but for Avraham it was nothing else but a test and G – d didn't want him to sacrifice his son at all. In Judaism, Teshuva (repentance) can be done by Zedakah (donations), prayer (Tefilah), or the inner regret of having done something wrong. There is no need for a sacrifice in a Temple and, by the way, the majority of sacrifices in the two Jewish Temples were not given because of sin (the Chatat) but because of the love to G – d (e.g. the Olah). Furthermore, the Chata was brought by unintentional sins.

Even the Tanach (Torah, Prophets and Writings) lists us these different ways of Teshuva and causing G – d's salvation. After the Second Temple had been destroyed, we are not allowed to bring any more sacrifices until Meshiach is building the Third Temple. Once the Third Temple is build. The Cohanim (Priests) will continue bringing the sacrifices.
But let us have a closer look at the word "sacrifice – korban (in Hebrew)". The word "korban" comes from the verb "lehitkarev" meaning getting / coming closer to something / someone. Hence, through a sacrifice we are getting closer to G – d. I can bring offerings as many as I want but the most important character trait is to honestly regret. Without regret my sacrifice is worth nothing ! And regret not only includes regret for what I have done in the past but also the intention not to repeact the act in the future. The inner way of Teshuva is accepted, even without any sacrifice in a Temple. And this is the Teshuva King David did after the incident with Batsheva; he cried out to G – d for forgiveness.

One thing we have to keep in mind:

G – d is a merciful G – d and our tears and our Teshuva (repentance) finds more acceptance by Him and more precious to Him than a few dead animals in the Temple. Kabbalistically speaking, those animals sacrificed in the Temple included reincarnated souls (Neshamot) and as soon as the animals were sacrificed, their soul was risen to a higher level and thus received a complete Tikun (soul rectification).

Further verses from the Tanach faked by the church:

1. Matthew 1 talks about a "virgin birth". This concept is not new at all, as many ancient pagan religions mention a virgin birth in connection their gods. However, Matthew had a little problem because in Yeshayahu (Isiah) is speaks about a "YOUNG WOMAN". A young woman doesn't necessarily have to be a virgin.
What did the church do ?
They faked the words in Isiah and turned the original text "YOUNG WOMAN" into a "VIRGIN". The church faked the context in order to J. into the Tanach. Due to the new meaning, Jews were killed in pogroms for many centuries. Only some years ago, the catholic admitted that the original words actually talk about a "young woman" and NOT about a "virgin". At the same time, the church added the theology that J. has to come a second time.
How ridiculous ! If J. was G –d, he wouldn't have to show up a second time in order to prove that He is Meshiach or G – d. Who could more fulfill the Torah than him ? The idea of a "second coming" is absolutely absurde !

Another example of how the church is playing with the Torah:

2. Tehillim (Psalm) 40, where King David speaks about G – d opening his ears. The church changed "ears" into "body" in order to hint to J. ? Does everyone of you understand what the church did ? They faked the Torah and turned it into something else !
Every simple bank clerk would go to jail for faking an account.

Christians think through a Christian filter and they mostly concentrate their thoughts on salvation and on being saved. They are terribly afraid of being rejected and go to hell. But even the Torah mentions different ways offering G – d's salvation. The worst fact is that, as a Jew, you will hardly find a believing Christian listening to you. And even if so, it is taking a long time for the Christian to understand you. A Jew can simply not argue with a Christian while using his ARTSCROLL Torah or Sidur, as the Christian is showing up with one of the faked church translations.

And as Yeshayahu (Isiah) 55 + 57 says:
"Search G – d wherever He is found, and call for Him when He is near !"
G – d offers salvation and receiving it can take place in many different ways. Furthermore, G – d says: "My thoughts are not your thoughts". Human beings always tend to think that G – d must think the way we think but He has different ways we don't understand.

Conclusion: There is no need for sacrifices, as we can repent and receive G – d's mercy without blood but through honest regret. With a prayer coming from the heart or with a donation.

And what about the "Son of G – d ?"
We are all sons of G – d because it was Him creating us. This, we should never forget and Christians having further questions can ask Tuvia Singer directly:
