 Friday afternoon, the strom started and Tel Aviv's beach area as well as the surroundings looked like a hurricane is taking apart the city. No people in the streets of Tel Aviv on a Friday afternoon ? Stormy weather and rain were taking over for the next two days. Broken windows, uprooted trees and huge waves at the beach. 

Temperature dropped and it was supposed to snow in Jerusalem. Where is was snowing was in Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem. Here are photos from Kiryat Arba and Hebron next door:

"The woman from Hebron" - A Palestinian Photoshop ?

While reading one of the news site of the Lebanese terror gang “Hizbollah”, I stumbled over a photo where I immediately thought that it must be photoshopped. Maybe it is not but, to me, it does look like a fake. Simply because something doesn't fit. First it reminded me of the Israeli army evacuating another Jewish settlement and the teenage girl rather looks like showing a fist to the soldiers. 

I started doing some research on the photo, got an answer but, at the same time, further questions came along. By the way, no one has ever mentioned the name of the photographer.

The picture was obviously taken in Hebron and it shows a Jewish boy kicking a Palestinian woman. At the same time, a Jewish teenage girl is trying to snatch the headcover of the same Palestinian woman.

Besides a short article on “Huffington Post”, only Arab and pro - Palestinian sites / blogs have been referring to the incident. The "Huffington Post" doesn't deliver any additional information either. However, on all sites, the picture always remains the same but the content of the articles changes. For instance, the “International Middle East Media Center” uses the photo in an article published on 22 September 2011. The 44 – year - old Palestinian woman Intisar Al Rajabi was hospitalized the day before, as she got attacked by Jewish settlers in the southern part of Hebron. There are more sites publishing the same text and the picture around the same date. 

The readership looks at the photo and thinks that it shows the actual incident when the woman got attacked. The strange thing is that another blog had already published the picture in an article from 7 July 2011. An article with basically the same content: A Palestinian woman had been attacked by Jewish settlers in Hebron. 

How come that Mrs Intisar Al Rajabi was only hospitalized at the end of September ? Or does the photo not show the same victim ? 

It even gets better: 
Another site had already published the same photo on 26 August 2009 !!! 

My question is: "What does the picture really show ? Is it real or just another bad example of Palestinian propaganda "Made in Pallywood "?

Christian Activist supporting Palestinians in Hebron

Israel has learnt how to approach suspicious Palestinians. There are areas like Hebron where every Palestinian may be a potential terrorist and start shooting or blow himself up. 

This Shabbat we are reading the Parasha "Chaye Sarah" and thousands of Jews will be gathering in Hebron. If Sarah came back today, she wouldn't recognize the whole situation in Hebron anymore where Palestinians took over a major part of the territory. The Jewish Quarter of Hebron may be a quarter of the entire town. I visited Hebron two years ago and wasn't very comfortable walking around even in the Jewish Quarter. Army checkpoints everywhere and I had to be careful not to enter the Palestinian side by accident. No Israeli is allowed to do that unless you want to get killed by the Palestinians. The Palestinians themselves are passing the Jewish Quarter all the time and may cross the raods wherever they want. 

I couldn't live in Hebron because of all the fences, Arabs around and the constant danger. The mainly national religious kids growing up in the town are tough and much more courageous than I am. 

The following video shows some Christian peace activists coming to Hebron and telling the Israeli army what to do. Such activists from abroad have no idea whatsoever about the conflict taking place but are convinced to show us the perfect solution. The army shouldn't even talk to such people but just arrest and deport them.

One reader was asking about the bus connections. I have no details but you can check the EGGED website. These kind of mass events are not for me and I always avoid going to Hebron during Pessach or Sukkot when everything is just packed.

Thousands of Israeli Jews are traveling around the country during Chol HaMoed (Intermediate Pessach Days) and I have to work. Thus, the "What is Better ?" question is coming up ?

1. Is it better to earn money and not to neglect one's income ?

or

2. Should not every Jew enjoy the holiday and travel ? 

Or at least travel and enjoy a bit ?

I agree with both points and I do enjoy the holiday. Never before I have enjoyed the food on Pessach so much as this time. Potatoes, vegetables, red wine ... I can't complain. Putting cream cheese on the Mazzot.

Unfortunately, Pessach will be over too fast and then the noodles will be back. Bread ? I don't miss bread, as we have bread and rolls baked from Mazze Mehl (flour) or whatever flour. However, noodles are important to me.

Those who do have time to travel may have been to Hebron already. When I visit the Ma'arat HaMachpelah, I like to be alone. I want to sit alone, read Tehillim and just look at the "graves" of the forefathers and foremothers.

The tombstones we see today are neither the real stones nor do we stand in front of the actual graves. However, it is a spiritual place. The negative point: In case you need the toilet, you have to leave the complex in order to get to the bathrooms before the Machpelah. Meaning that, in case you want to come back inside, you need to undergo the entire security procedure again.

Going to Hebron is not a problem but when I took the bullet - proved bus I didn't feel very comfortable. Hebron itself is not always too save for the Jews. Especially not when you, by accident, cross the border into the much larger Arab Quarter.

Guest Posting: On last nights Terror attack near Hebron

Talya Imes, who was nine months pregnant, her husband, Yitzchak, Kochava Even Chaim and Avishai Shindler were laid to rest today in Israel by their families. Why? Was it because they dared to drive home on a public road? Was it because road safety checks were taken down as a "goodwill" gesture? Or was it because of pure evil and vile hatred? It could be all or neither. There are conflicting reports, but apparently the terrorists waited in ambush and fired on the vehcle to disable it. Then they walked over and murdered the occupants at close range--there were no survivors. Look at the picture Reuters posted. Not of the site, not of the victims or the mourning all over the country, but of the joy and celebrations in the West Bank at the news of dead Israelis.

The news of the world refuses to mention the unborm child of Talya Imes, saying only that four Israelis were "killed". BBC (from Ramallah of course) ran a piece blaming the "settlers" for living illegally on "Palestinian" land and the frustration of the "poor refugees". Wait--what? Terrorists ambush and murder innocent people and it is not their fault? The news says PA forces are making arrests--oh really? The PA looks for every excuse to "arrest" Hamas because Hamas and the PA are in their own private war for control. Make no mistake--the PA gets just as excited about dead Jews as Hamas.


Has hatred of Jews and Isreal taken on such a force that innocent people can be ambushed and murdered in cold blood and there is no outcry? When former chief rabbi Ovadia Joseph, aged 89, invoked an ancient prayer calling for the destruction of our enemies (then named a few of them) the world screamed "incitement, hatred, racist" for Three Days!--but for five dead Jews...meh.


Foolish people say that if there was a "Palestinian" state this would not have happened. That-is-Not-True. Every concession Israel has ever made, results in death for Israelis. Why? Because we are dealing with an ENEMY--Not a peace partner. Read the Koran--Listen to the vile speaches coming from their media, mosques and leaders every single day. All of our surrounding "neighbors" carry a telling section in their charters calling for the destruction of Israel. The PA affirmed this in their conclave in Bethlehem and the famed "man of peace" Abbas in his "official" photo stands in front of a map showing "All of Israel" as belonging to the PA. Look at your own countries. Go to the neighborhoods where streets are blocked--while muslims bus in from all over to "take possession". Look at Europe. You may say "this isn't in my city, neighborhood or street" or that "it is only a few radicals". You are Wrong and if you do not wake up and fight to keep the freedoms that good men and women have died for over the years, it only be a distant memory. If that pesky Israel is finally destroyed--what will you do when islam comes for you?

If you are still reading, I ask that as in these final words you consider yourself, or family member or friend driving home on a public highway--shots ring out and your vehicle stops. As armed men approach, you realize that you are helpless because your private weapon had recently been confiscated--in the name of peace, maybe? Perhaps that may have been how Yitzchak and Talia Imes (9 months pregnant) felt. They left behind six orphans. Did Kokhava Even-Chaim, 37, a teacher with an 8 year old daughter, know that her husband, Maimon (a Zaka volunteer) would find her lifeless body when he arrived on the scene to offer help? And newly married Avishai Shindler, only 24--did he realize he would never see his wife again or realize the joy of having children and grandchildren? What would you think in those last moments?

Today, All of Israel mourns the loss of five innocent souls--but we will carry on, and we will survive--as we have over the centuries. The question is, will you?

Ma'arat HaMachpelah open 24 hours

The Ma'arat HaMachpelah (gravesite of the Jewish forefathers and mothers Avraham, Sarah, Yaakov, Leah, Yitzchak, Rivka as well as Adam HaRishon and Chava) in Hebron will be open 24 hours during the Aseret Yamei Teshuva between Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. However, I am not sure whether the Olam Yitzchak is included because usually it is only open to Jews on Chol HaMoed Pessach and Sukkot. Otherwise the Arabs occupy it.

This is the first time that the Machpelah is open 24 hours a day. The reason is that thousands of Jews are especially coming during those ten days. Including many Jews from abroad.

Arabs vandalized ancient Jewish cemetery in Hebron

The Israeli press prefers to stay away from the incident and has hardly published anything. If so, only in small print. Other do, such a "Atlas Shrugs" from the US.

The ancient cemetery of Hebron has been vandalized and the Jewish inhabitants suspect arson done by the Arabs. Hebron is an ancient Jewish town and each of us knows it from the Torah. However, today Hebron is mainly Arab, as Netanyahu returned most of the town to the Arabs in the late 90ies. When you take a trip to Hebron you will find the army at every street corner on the Jewish part. The Jewish part is tiny and only consists of the "Ma'arat HaMachpelah - Cave with the graves of the forfathers / foremothers including the ones from Adam HaRishon and Eve (Chava)". Down the street you find a small cafe and a little further the Jewish Yishuv. 

In case you are Jewish, you should ask every soldier you see for the right way because as soon as you enter the Arab section, you may be dead. The Arab population, on the other hand, is allowed to enter the Jewish part of the Hebron freely. 

Now the cemetery, whose location is outside the Jewish part, was burnt. An ancient cemetery with graves of famous Rabbis such as the "Chesed Avraham" (Rabbi Avraham Azoulai) and others. The Israeli police has, so far, been ignoring the fact that apparently Arabs burnt the graves. "Some children were just playing", so the police. Nevertheless, the Jews in charge of the cemetery claim to have videos which show that Arabs burnt the cemetery on purpose.

Ma'arat HaMachpelah

The Israelis national religious weekly "Be'Sheva" is publishing an interesting article today. On page 30 / 31 you can read about the 75 - year - old Itamar Schneeweiss who lives in Kiryat Arba (right next to Hebron). For the past fourty years he has been dealing with the Ma'arat HaMachpelah (the burial place of Avraham Yitzchak, Yaakov, Sarak, Rivka, Lea as well of the first two humans Adam and Eve (Chava)).

Usually the "Olam Yitzchak - Hall of Yitzchak" is closed for the Jews most of the year. The Arabs took over and only allow the Jews to go there on special occasions such as on Chol HaMoed Pessach and Sukkot. I went to the Machpelah last August but only saw the graves of Avraham and Sarah as well as Lea and Yaakov.

However, the graves / tombstones you see are not the real graves. After the forefathers were buried there, one building after the next was built on top of the original caves. Itamar Schneeweiss says that when Herod built the Second Temple in Jerusalem, he build the Heichal (the place of and around the Holy of Holies (Aron HaKodesh) on some remains of the original Mishkan (Tabernacle). It says that most pieces of the Mishkan actually burnt down.

Itamar Schneeweiss states that besides underneath the Second Temple, Herod also put remains of the Mishkan while building another building over the caves. He claims to have discovered for walls of the Mishkan inside the Olam Yitzchak.

Can you imagine that this is true and we would actually able to see remains of the Mishkan the Israelites carried through the desert ? Remains which have faced G - d's Shechinah ?

"Chaye Sarah" in Hebron

The Torah Parasha "Chaye Sarah" is always a big thing for Hebron. Last week's Parashat "Vayera" described the "Akedah - Sacrificing of Yitzchak" and the Torah tells us that Sarah died. Among others, the Torah commentator "Ohr HaChaim" says that Sarah died when she heard about Yitzchak's plan to sacrifice their beloved son.

Thousands of Jews are going to Hebron this Shabbat in order to pray at the grave of Sarah Imenu.

It is also said that besides the forefathers and foremothers, Adam and Chava (Eve) are buried in the Machpelah.

Back from Hebron

This morning, I left quite early for Hebron. I have never really been there except for passing through on a bus and getting stoned. This was years ago but Hebron still shows lots of tentions. The city is divided between Jews and Arabs. The Jews only possess a quarter of the city and I always had to be careful where to walk and depended on Israeli soldiers showing me the way. Once I didn't feel too save because I was surrounded by Arab kids and teenagers but I remeained calm and just kept on walking.

My main destination was, of course, the Ma'arat HaMachpelah" where our forefathers and Adam and Eve (Chava) are buried. I was shocked because there were old green covers made out of fabric covering the graves of Avraham and Sarah. The covers had a golden inscription in Arabic. I had not expected the Machpelah looking so Arab in its design. As expected, the "Yitzchak Hall" was closed and only accessible for Arabs.

Why Yitzchak ? Why not Avraham ? What do Muslims have to do with Yitzchak ?

I am still on a little vacation but I am going to give lots of details on Hebron this week.
