I have neglected this blog within the past few days because I was writing about the rocket war from Gaza on one of my German blogs. Now Netanyahu has agreed to a cease - fire and it is quiet. People in southern Israel, especially in Ashkelon and Beersheva, are leaving their bomb shelters and fill the streets enjoying the first quiet moments while the Hamas is celebrating in Gaza.
Neither the Israeli nor the Hamas government spoke about the cease - fire conditions. What I do know is that the problem is far from being solved. Netanyahu thinks that he won, Hamas is having its party of success and the big looser is Abu Mazen and his Fatach.
I expected that Netanyahu won't show any guts and give in to Obama and Hillary Clinton. Now we are in the same position as we were after the first Gaza war under Olmert. Nothing has changed. Hamas still has its missiles and Israel is hoping for a permanent cease - fire.
It could be that the cease - fire turns out to be stable but what is going to happen to Sderot, Netivot and other small Negev towns ? The rockets are going to come back and the rest of the country as well as the world won't bother with a rocket or two falling onto Sderot from time to time.

American Jews in Israel vote for Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney may not be the most prefect candidate but anything is better than Barak Hussein Obama. This is also how American Jews who made Aliyah to Israel think and thus they vote for Romney. American Jews may prefer Obama because they believe that he is better for America. Once you live in Israel, your priorities will change and then you start worrying about the future of your new home.
Obama has shown in the past that his approach towards Israel is rather hostile and this is why Romney would be a better solution. If Obama continues to be president, Arab countries are going to find more favour in his eyes and, in the end, he will force Netanyahu to give huge parts of Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians. In Israel we are almost certain that Netanyahu has already agreed on Obama'speace plan.

The "Jonathan Pollard Van"
The only solution is Meshiach ben David, Tehillim verses and Shema Israel. I didn't really understand whether this all refers to Jonathan Pollard or if the car is just a huge bumper sticker.:-)
I am not too much with Jonathan Pollard but the van caught my attention when I saw it at the present protest tent of the national religious movement taking place between Israel's Supreme Court and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem. The national religious are protesting against the evacuation of Beit El's ULPANA neighbourhood. However, I am planning to write much more on issue and the protest itself.

Netanyahu speech to the AIPAC
Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to the the AIPAC yesterday. My personal opinion is that Israel shouldn't concentrate too much on Iran but rather on Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, as those countries are our direct neighbours and enemies.

Tal Law - חוק טל
B”H
Again, the Israeli government has to decide about the extention of the controversial “Chok Tal – Tal Law”: Young male Haredim who are enrolled in Yeshivot are, according to the "Tal Law", exempt from the army service.
Every time, the law is being discussed anew, all kinds of new / old criticism is coming up. At the moment, the time making a decision is not the best: For the past weeks, Israeli left - wing organizations as well as the secular press have been spreading the worst propaganda against haredi society as a whole. Without pointing out various differences between various haredi groups and ideologies.
I can understand those Israelis who are joining the army service without any complaint. They see it as their duty to protect and fight for our country. I can also understand that regular Israeli soldiers are upset about an entire (haredi) society not joining the armed forces. On the other hand, I do understand many Haredim who do not join the Israeli army. One of the main reasons why they don't are society reasons. Young Haredim are reluctant to go to the army, as they fear being rejected from their own society. Especially regarding Shidduchim or that family members won't be accepted at great Yeshivot.
More than a decade ago, the army unit “Nahal HaCharedi” was founded. The first soldiers joining this haredi unit were Haredim. However, a little later, the "Nahal" made the mistake of accepting more and more national religious soldiers. The difference is that national religious soldiers do agree to certain "light" standards such as eating kosher food with a "Chief Rabbinate - Rabbanut" Hechsher. Most Haredim do not. Haredim don't really want to serve in this unit anymore, as they don't consider the "Nahal" as entirely haredi but as something "modern Orthodox". Nevertheless, there is quite a high amount of Haredim who would like to serve in the army if the religious standards were higher. The more Rabbis were favouring the army service, the more Haredim would actually join.
Haredim as well as national religious men claim that the army itself doesn't want too many frum soldiers. Despite all criticism, does the army really need so many haredi soldiers ? The generals say YES but reality appears to be different. The Ministry of Defense has been spreading quite shocking reports: In another 10 years or so, the Israeli army is going to face a lack of soldiers. How then will we be able to defend our country ? As expected, the press found the guilty side: The Haredim. On the other hand, the media also pointed out that the amount of secular Israelis looking for exemption from the army, has been constantly growing. The number 1 refusals are coming from secular Israelis living in Tel Aviv.
I don't have any solution to offer. On the one hand, I do understand the haredi public and its refusal of going to the army. On the other hand, I have lots of sympathy for Israeli soldiers complaining about the "Tal Law". Why do they have to serve while others sit in Yeshivot or simply do nothing besides enrolling ? As a matter of fact, there is a high amount of young Haredim who are enrolled in Yeshivot but hardly participate in any studies.
I know a national religious Rabbi whose son has become haredi. The son was anxious becoming a soldier but the father didn't let him go because he was too afraid that his son may die on the battlefield. The result was that the son didn't join the army but the service could have changed his life into more positive directions. Bored and not knowing what to do in life, the son went a little astray due to money matters.

By the way, a couple of years ago (when I was still younger), I asked the army whether I can still join. Due to my advanced age, I couldn't but was offered to volunteer at a checkpoint. The problem was that I need to earn a living and thus didn't sign up.

Demonstration against 40,000 Africans in Tel Aviv, Part 2
B”H
Here is the first part of the series
The latest news is that the Netanyahu government now wants to start deporting illegal Africans. Thus, the Prime Minister himself wants to travel to Africa in a few days and convince African governments to take back their own people. Furthermore, the government raised the budget for the security fence at the border to Egypt. Israeli companies empoying illegal Africans will be fined up to 75,000 Shekels.
Until our government shows it weakness towards the African infiltration, more and more Africans are going to come flooding our country.
Here are more photos from the demonstration at Tel Aviv's Lewinsky Park taking place the day before yesterday:

Tel Aviv's Mayor against thousands of illegal Africans in Tel Aviv
From yesterday's Israeli newspaper MA'ARIV
Tel Aviv's Mayor Ron Chulda'i is asking Netanyahu to act now, as thousands of illegal Africans keep on flooding the city's southern neighbourhoods.
More than 51,00 illegale Africans live in Israel. The majority comes from Sudan and Eritrea. In 2010, 14,741 Africans infiltrated into Israel. In 2011, so far, 13,600 Africans succeeded in crossing the border from Egypt.
B”H
Those of you following this blog on a regular basis know that I keep on writing about thousands of illegal Africans infiltrating into Israel. It is high time that our Mayor Ron Chulda’i is starting to act and he now demands from Netanyahu a nationwide congress where the problem has to be discussed and a solution to be found. It cannot be that, every month, thousands of Africans continue streaming into Israel.
Tel Aviv (also Eilat, Bnei Brak, Arad, Ashdod and now Ramat Gan) is flooded with Africans and the Jewish population is fed up. Especially those inhabitants living in the southern neighbourhoods. The Africans have become more violent and many of them work as drugdealers or run prostitution networks. Sudanese tribes fight each other and even the Philippino foreign workers are afraid to go out at night. No Israeli should walk around the Central Bus Station after midnight where African thieves and drug addicts take over the entire area at night.
Every morning, the Africans gather at the Levinsky Park across the Central Bus Station and wait for Israelis passing and offering them odd jobs. I went through the park yesterday and Africans don't like their pictures be taken, as I could be from the immigration police. This is the reason why some of my photos didn't come out too well.

The playground at the Levinsky Park in African hands
On Sunday, 11 December 2011, Israel's right - wingers together with the inhabitants of Tel Aviv are planning a demonstration. Where ? At 6pm at the Levinsky Park. For the past three years, the city has been flooded with Africans and this is why Knesset member Michael Ben Ari and further MKs are participating in the demonstration. All Africans should be deported immediately, as they have no right staying in Israel.

... not to turn Chanukkah into Xmas
B”H
Unfortunately it isn’t only the Jews in the US having an extremely high rate of intermarriage. An incredible amount of Diaspora Jews is getting lost due to thousands intermarrying. No matter where you look. Except for South African Jewry, so I heard.
It is mainly Reform Jews marrying Gentiles and less Orthodox Jews. Those Jews intermarrying either claim that they couldn’t find a proper Jewish spouse or they just fell in love and marrying a Gentile wouldn't be that bad. The truth is that all of them are following their sexual desires and don’t think about the consequences. After some time the marriage may go down the drain because the Jewish partner is sick of his Gentile spouse or the children start searching for their own identity. Halacha says that Jewish men marrying a Gentile woman won’t have any Jewish kids coming from this marriage. Only a Jewish woman (either by birth or through a recognized Orthodox conversion) is able to have Jewish children. However, there are children from mixed marriages whose mother is a Gentile but they think that they are Jewish. Those children are NOT Jewish but just as non – Jewish as their mother. In order to become Jewish they need to undergo a proper conversion.
Last week, Israel’s Ministry of Absorption, once again, started a Campaign in order to bring more Israeli Jews living in the Diaspora back home to Israel. Furthermore, the campaign was also warning against intermarriage and that Israelis living abroad should keep their Jewish identity and not go for assimilation among the nations. Thousands of Israeli Jews live in the Diaspora and the main reason is money. A higher income abroad, a house and a nice car. All the conveniences of the Diaspora life. What those Israelis like to forget is anti – Semitism, millions of Arabs around them and the danger of assimilation. The next generation may not be Jewish anymore when it comes to intermarriage. Even if the parents are Jewish, children and grandchildren may forget about their Jewish heritage.
The Ministry of Absorption put a video into Youtube warning Israeli Jewry in the Diaspora. They should stick to their Jewish identity instead of loosing their soul. Israel is sick of having all kinds of Gentile spouses imported. Israelis marrying Gentiles abroad, then ship them over to Israel where the Jewish parents already freak out due to having a Schickse as a daughter - in - law. Then the Gentile spouse demands her rights from the State of Israel although their aren’t any. It the marriage falls apart, the Gentile spouse is staying in the country and, in the worst case, looking for another Jewish partner. Meaning, another Jewish soul to destroy.
Diaspora Jews don’t like to hear such opinions but keep on dreaming about a perfect intermarriage in order to forget about their conscience. It doesn’t surprise that especially Diaspora Jews started protesting against the Israeli campaign. In particular against the Youtube spot. Obviously it was too much "disturbing" Judaism for the Reform movement. On the other hand, Christian organizations saw their idol – worship festival “Xmas” discredited. The Youtube video run the slogan “… not to turn Chanukkah into Xmas !” and Christians got offended although the campaign wasn’t made for them but in order to protect Judaism.
Only a few days later, Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled the entire campaign and made the Ministry of Absorption to take down the video from Youtube. Apparently money was much more important to our prime minister than anything Jewish. Netanyahu loves to bend down to American Diaspora Jews, as they donate him millions of Dollars. The same with Christian organizations whose money he also loves to take. Just look at the vicious missionaries “Evangelical Christians” whose main goal it is to convert Jews into their idol – worship cult called Xtianity.
Netanyahu may have forgotten what the Torah commands the Jews: Marriages between Jews and Gentiles are forbidden by the Torah !!!

The Fight about Jerusalem
B"H
Already last night, the traditional celebrations for today's "YOM YERUSHALAIM" began. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the national religious "Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva" (in Jerusalem) in order to celebrate with the students and give a speech. Apparently the speech was very patriotic and, of course, in favour of a united Jerusalem. This is what Netanyahu usually says. What he doesn't say or avoids to do is making a CLEAR statement about the future of the Holy City. Is he going to freeze further housing plans or not. What about the haredi neighbourhood of Ramat Shlomo or the secular part Gilo ? Is he going to give in to everything Barak Hussein Obama demands ? Everything in favour of the Arabs ?
Netanyahu has a few patriotic speeches prepared and he is always ready to give one of them but how about reality ? Was giving back Hebron (in 1996) a patriotic thing to do ?
Yesterday a Chabad Rabbi asked Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav to cancel Netanyahu's arrival but, instead, the Yeshiva celebrated together with the Prime Minister. However, there are plenty of speculations going around that Netanyahu has already come to a secret agreement with Hussein Obama dividing Jerusalem and freezing the building of more neighbourhoods in favour of the Palestinians. As soon as Netanyahu feels that the time is right, he will let us all know and I am sure that he has a "patriotic" way to explain it to the Jerusalemites.

The Israeli Supreme Court, the Haredim and Beit Yaakov
Photo: Kikar Shabbat
B"H
There is nothing new about the division of Sepharadim and Ashkenazim in Israeli society. The same in haredi society where haredi Sepharadim are known to Ashkenazim by the nickname "Frenk".
Ashkenazi Haredim don't marry into Sephardi society; Sepharadim, on the other hand, seem to have less problems with marrying an Ashkenazi Jew. However, an Ashkenazi Haredi marrying a Sephardi usually means that there is something wrong with him / her. Problematic to society, handicapped or whatever. Not suitable for another haredi Ashkenazi.
The haredi girls' school "Beit Yaakov" is also divided between Ashkenazi students and Sephardi students. First of all, both groups keep different customs within Judaism and secondly, Ashkenazi parents see the Sepharadim as a kind of primitive and not suitable for studying with their children. It is harder finding a good Shidduch when your kids studied together with Sephardi girls.
This is a fact and a society issue.
The Israeli town Emmanuel has a Beit Yaakov and made the usual division. The Sephardi parents, however, went wild because they consider the Ashkenazi reaction as rassist behaviour. Now Israel's Supreme Court decided that the Ashkenazi Beit Yaakov cannot make a division anymore but Ashkenazi and Sephardi girls have to learn together. Rabbi Yosef Shalom Eliyashiv and most Ashkenazim went beserk and the Ashkenazi parents in Emmanuel are even prepared to go to jail than following the verdict of the Supreme Court.
Honestly I don't see the point of Sephardi parents why they want to send their children to an Ashkenazi school. A school where the students don't say "Shabbat Shalom" but "Gut Schabbes", for instance. Why doing so when, on the other hand, Sepharadim gossip about this kind of Ashkenazi language ? Just because it is better for their girls to have an Ashkenazi education ? If I had children, I wouldn't insist on sending them to a Sephardi school.
Last night I heard a report on the issue on a haredi radio channel. One of the Ashkenazi parents from Emmanuel was interviewed and this father said that Emmanuel is flooded with newly Baalei Teshuva. Many of the Sephardi girls are not even yet religious because their parents have only recently started their Teshuva process. Furthermore, many of those girls don't even keep Shabbat (yet). Baalei Teshuva always come with problems and it takes time to solve them. If they are being solved. Beit Yaakov girls, however, are supposed to be religious and various Sephardi girls living in Emmanuel are not.
The problem is that Beit Yaakov belongs to the Agudath Israel and is financed by the Israeli government. The result is that the State of Israel has the right to interfere into internal Beit Yaakov matters. Even a secular and anti - haredi Supreme Court. Other groups such as Dushinsky or Toldot Aharon don't accept education support from the government and are thus independent.
The secular Israeli newspaper "Yediot Acharonot" is making a big fuss in huge headlines today. How rassist Ashkenazi Haredim are and what all the mess is about. It is very easy though to make claims when one doesn't know society. Nevertheless, the Supreme Court will not change haredi society in any way and Baalei Teshuva parents should think before sending their (secular) children to a haredi school. One should take a teshuva process in tiny steps and not "Ort School" today and "Talmud Torah" tomorrow. This doesn't work !

Prime Minister Benjamin Obama
B"H
Unfortunately, our prime minister does not think this way (see above picture) and prefers to give in to Obama. But did we expect anything else ?
As soon as Netanyahu sees Obama, he forgets about all Zionist ideologies and even about his country. The question is for how long is he willing to resist the "Jerusalem" issue.
Despite all Israeli efforts, the Palestinian authority has already announced that without including Jerusalem, there will not be a real progress in the peace process.
So, why stop building new housing in settlements at all ?

The "Shalit - Dilemma"
B"H
What does the Torah say about freeing a kidnapped soldier of one's own army ?
The Jewish army.
As far as I remember do we have the obligation to do anything in order to free the soldier from his captivity.
Israel is in a big dilemma, as the Hamas demands the release of hundreds of its terrorists in exchange for the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Terrorists who killed countless of Jews and whose goal it is to continue doing so. Everyone who has ever been in a terrorist attack or lived in Jerusalem during the year 2002 knows exactly what I am talking about.
When we riding on a local bus in 2002, we were watching every passenger getting on the bus. Did he look Arab ? If yes, could he be a suicide bomber ? What if he carried a big piece of luggage ?
As the whole country, I am torn between the two possibilities: Should Israel release all those terrorists or keep on negotiating ? Is one soldier worth a few hundred terrorist with blood on their hands ? What is happening in the future if those terrorists are free ? Can Shalit be a happy person when he knows that his release caused further terror victims ?
I am glad not to be the prime minister and hopefully everything will work out.
(Just some wishful thinking !)
