Great Day in Chabad

Chabad Website

B"H

Today is 3rd Tammuz and for Lubavitcher Chassidim (Chabad) means this date the Yahrzeit of the last Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson (died in June 1994). But not every Chabadnik says "Yahrzeit", as the Meshichistim within the group are still convinced that the Rebbe is still alive and didn't die. Tammuz 3rd is the day he disappeared. We are unable to see him but he is still here; just invisible for our eyes and in another dimension.

Whatever, all Chabadnikim all over the world have their special events today due to the Rebbe's Yahrzeit. Concerts and Rebbe videos, Rebbe stories, everything. The Meshichistim celebrate in Bat Yam (near Tel Aviv) tonight at 7pm. Entrance fee is 10 Shekels (approx. 3 Dollar).

The Tel Aviv non - Meshichistim celebrate in Yoshua Bin Nun Street and even the Chabad Synagogue where I went yesterday has a special event going on. They are going to show a Rebbe video and have some music.

Already yesterday for the Shabbat service they had celebrations going on. I went to the Tel Aviv Chabad shul in Ba'alei Malka (near Sheinkin) and after the service, we had a great Kiddush. Everyone was invited and we had salads, humus, cracker, fish and later on Tsholent. Not too many people go to this synagogue, as it is in the middle of the Chiloni (secular) neighbourhood in Sheinkin Street. However, the Chabad Rabbi explained that the Rebbe never ever said the word "Chiloni". Everyone Jewish has a Jewish soul and has to be brought closer to G - d. There is no such thing as Chiloni but only Jewish.

The Chabad Rabbi spoke the whole time. Rebbe stories without an end and the more he told us, the more he got into it. By the way, I was one of the only ones listening, as everyone else was too busy eating. The food was good and I was told that a catering company had prepared everything. So, I already got my daily doses of brainwashing yesterday. Nevertheless, I like the Chabadnikim in that particular synagogue and all the people around. They are very welcoming and as soon as I am in the area, I am always going there.

In the evening, I even walked back for a Pirkei Avot (Sayings of the Fathers) - Shiur (class) where, of course, the Rebbe again was the subject. Last night I came back to Jerusalem (until tomorrow evening) in order to prepare an article and a lecture.

However, there is no escape, as I already saw a great picture of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe in one of Israels dailys.
