Samsung Galaxy S3 versus a useless Apple i5

It seems as if humankind is really loosing it. The new Apple i5 has been released and people stand in line for hours in order to buy the device. However, when you start thinking: Is there really such a great difference to the i4 ?

I admit not to be among the Apple worshipping community but, instead, I am still in love with my Samsung Galaxy S2. A friend of mine and an owner of the i4 has been complaining for a long time that my phone is easier to handle and that Samsung is not charging any money for every single app. In addition to that, my pictures come out much better and the S2 has been offering a panorama view for ages. Apple is only offering it now on the new device but, according to my friend, she downloaded an app offering panorama pictures on her i4 long ago.

I just consider those Apple fans standing in line for a phone which is basically just like the "old" i4 and has nothing new to offer but the design, the weight and a bigger screen, as not facing reality. Today many people just buy Apple because they want to show off but if you are looking for something to work: Get a Samsung Galaxy.

By the way, I am not getting paid by Samsung but I am simply stating my opinion.:-)

Jewish Android Apps

I am just a one - man (woman) - blogger - show and I am always jealous when I look at other blogs publishing so many articles on a daily basis. Those blogs are only able to do so because they either deal with guest posts or have a few bloggers and not only one. Many times I am behind with all my posts but that's the way it is. 

In case I don't carry a book with me in order to read and prepare articles, I found another way of studying at almost any place. If you own an Android device, the Playstore is actually offering quite a few Jewish writings and books. From the RAMBAM to Tefilah and to the YALKUT SHIMONI Midrash. I actually just downloaded MEGILLATH ESTHER and next Purim, I don't need to carry any Megillah with me but simply pull out my Samsung. 

It is an amazing how many Jewish apps are around but the biggest choice have those who know Hebrew, as many apps are only available in Hebrew. 

G – d and the TITANIC

Tonight, exactly 100 years ago, the TITANIC sank. Because the sinking of the ship was such a great tragedy, people are fascinated by the disaster until today. Movies were made, the wreck located and all kinds of dishes, furniture or personal belongings were exhibited. TV stations from all over the world have been broadcasting documentaries this week. How the TITANIC was vulnerable and finally sank. If the crew made mistakes eventually leading to the sinking of the ship ? Whether the ice – berg could have been spotted out much earlier or if there was a so – called MIRAGE leading the crew to false conclusions and noticing the ice – berg too late ?

The question is where we can see G – d in this tragedy ? The first thing coming into my mind when hearing about the TITANIC is the TOWER OF BAVEL (BABYLON). Can it be that the people building the TITANIC were making the same mistake as Nimrod and his generation ? Thinking that a ship like the TITANIC is unsinkable, no matter what is happening. Nimrod thought that his TOWER would be so powerful and pave the way to G – d’s abode that Nimrod himself will be able to catch G – d and kill Him. 

Nimrod as well as the builders of TITANIC thought that mankind is everything. We are able to create the best, mightiest and biggest houses, machines, towers, computers or ships. Nothing can stop us and our inventions seem to be so perfect that no one will be able to destroy them; impossible because we have thought and taken care of everything. No way that something may go wrong. 

The more we trust in ourselves, machines, technology or science and the more we leave out G – d, the more surprises we will have. I am not saying that G – d let all those travellers on the TITANIC die in order to show His power. However, we should still learn from this disaster and never ever feel too powerful and comfortable. There is no reason for us of being arrogant, as there will be always someone on top of us beating us with our own weapons: G – d.

Sikarikim against Jerusalem Technology Park

For those who are not too familiar with Jerusalem:

The haredi neighbourhood Sanhedria has been surrounded by a new neighbourhood. Already a while ago, the Har Chotzvim Technology Park has been extending it's area. Hightech companies and anything connected to computers.

Now some Haredim, apparently with a Sikariki ideology, have been trying to get rid of Jerusalem's hightech companies because they still look at computers as a danger. Especially when hightech companies start building near haredi neighbourhoods.

It seems that those Haredim have missed realizing today's reality. A few years ago, I had some business to do in Har Chotzvim and was surprised how many Haredim work at the computer companies. Especially American Haredim. No matter if male or female, everyone was just there working.

So, are those demonstrators trying to make their own people unemployed ?

Chassidut Toldot Aharon: "The iPhone is Impure !"

The above poster was published at the Toldot Aharon Beit Midrash in Beit Shemesh yesterday (Friday). The Admor of the Chassidut considers the iPhone as "Tamei - Impure" and those members possessing an iPhone will be excluded from the group.

The problem is that the new multimedia attracts so many young Chassidim that even Toldot Aharon won't be able to watch every single member. By the way, I know one former Toldot Aharon guy with a Facebook account.:-)

Technical Problems

Within the past two or three days, BLOGGER was having technical problems and thousands of BLOGSPOT users were unable to post new articles. Now everything seems to work again and we go back to normal. 

If someone has left a comment in the meantime, it can be that the comment just vanished !

The Belzer Rebbe against BLACKBERRY

The Belzer Rebbe, Rabbi Yissachar Dov Rokeach, spoke out against the BLACKBERRY phone.The Rebbe said in his speech that this phone would be "impure". However, I am just wondering why he didn't mention the iphone or any other phone of such kind.

Is Atlantis on Google Earth ?

The great secret ATLANTIS and the eternal search of people finding this former perfect island. Gold, wealth, happy inhabitants - Until today, thousands of people keep on dreaming of Atlantis. Of finding the ancient paradise and getting a glimpse of a perfect life but do we rally need Atlantis in order to be happy ? Or shouldn't we rather concentrate on finding our own Atlantis inside of us instead of looking for external happiness ?

There is a theory that the ancient population of Atlantis were the descendants of the Biblical Cain. An almost hightech society and more advanced than anyone else in the world. However, the island somehow got to a certain point where G - d decided its destruction. If this is really true and the former people of Atlantis were the children of Cain, then we should stop dreaming about us living in Atlantis. 

New Virus in GMAIL accounts

GMAIL users watch out, as a new virus is going around !

A friend of mine sent me the following details:

* I opened my Gmail this morning and saw an email: Google Accounts: Alert (Note: it was 24 hours old)
* When I opened it the message stated that accounts were being selected at random to be deleted and if I wished to keep my account I should send in my Name, DOB, Password, etc.
* I figured it for a scam and started a check with Google forums.
* Meanwhile, a second message came in--attached to the original. This one said that Google Database was over loaded and if I wished to keep my account to send in the same info I mentioned above.
* While I was in the forums My Gmail signed off on its own
* I could not log in again
* I tried to have my password reset but that didn't work
* I had to report my account as compromised--Google uses a process to send a new password to a "secondary" contact email
* I had to clear my cache and cookies, close the browser and finally I could log in with my new password

What you do when your cell phone is lost or stolen !!!

Anyone else who has a cell phone should know this trick:
Key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset so keep it in a safe place. If your phone gets stolen, call your service provider & give them this code. They can then block your handset so EVEN IF THE THIEF CHANGES THE SIM CARD, YOUR PHONE WILL BE TOTALLY USELESS! You won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use OR sell it either.
