Last Thursday, I bought a copy of the MISHPACHA because they published a long article on the Shomrei Emunim Rebbe. About his special Tishes and his friendly connection to the Baba Sali, for instance. Until then, I didn't even know about his fifth son being in jail. 

As we all know MISHPACHA, nothing negative is being mentioned and when we read this magazine, we get the impression that everything is just great and perfect. 

If the article is being published in the English edition, don't be surprised not finding anything negative about the Rebbe's family.:-)

Last Friday, Israel’s most popular daily ISRAEL HAYOM published an article on the great Posek Rabbi Aharon Yehudah Leib Steinman. By the way, the newspaper is only so popular because it is given out for free on a daily basis. I think that a rich American and Netanyahu friend is sponsoring the paper and Israelis love anything what doesn’t cost money.

Just recently, the great famous spiritual leader of the Ashkenazishe litvishewelt, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Eliyashiv, passed away. Right after his death, the quarrel about his successor started and many people consider the 98 year – old Rabbi Steinman from Bnei Brak as a suitable candidate. Who else would be left ? Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky maybe who is the son – in – law of Rabbi Eliyashiv, as he was married to his daughter until she died not too long ago. By the way, all those three Rabbis mentioned so far are related to each other.

There are many Haredim contacting the secular Israeli press and telling various stories to those reporters. As soon as a Haredi is making such contacts, he actually does have a certain kind of policy mind, and the article from last Friday did definitely not come from a fan of Rabbi Steinman. Just the opposite because when you looked at the photos published with the article, you could have got a rather disgusted feeling. At least me as a woman. 

The article was about the Rabbi’s life and marriage. His wife was a Shidduch, he only saw her once and they decided to marry right away. Rabbi Steinman lives a rather poor lifestyle in a neglected apartment in Chazon Ish Street in Bnei Brak. Various pictures of the kitchen and even the Rabbi’s bed were attached to the article and I started asking myself how anyone could take such photos and allow them to be published ? I think that this is just disgusting. 

Moreover the apartment looked totally run down and one couldn’t differentiate between "neglected", "dirty" or "both". This is what also disgusted me as a woman who actually keeps her place tidy and clean. 

I am not accusing the Rabbi of being sloppy but someone should take care of him and not only taking photos. Of course, there was an interest in presenting Rabbi Steinman this way. As the article said, the Rabbi has plenty of opponents who see him as too liberal. He allowed haredi women to work, he supports the idea of Haredim working and he doesn’t necessarily has anything against Haredim joining the army. Rabbi Eliyashiv would have never ever agreed to anything of that but Rabbi Steinman seems to be more realistic in certain ways. 

Whoever spoke to the journalist and wanted the article getting published cannot be such a religious pious person. At least not in my eyes. You may agree with Rabbi Steinman or not but you don’t need to run to the secular media and spread personal information about a 98 – year – old Posek. It is even a miracle that his toilet hadn’t been published.

Police considering closing down the "Be'Chadrei HaCharedim"

The Israeli police are considering to close down the Internet site "Be'Chadrei HaCharedim". Due to the investigation where leading employees of the site are being accused of threatening and bribing people, arrests have been taking place. The website is being accused of demanding money from Rabbis and haredi communities. When the money is paid, negative reports and comments would be removed. One of the victims is supposed to be Dudi Zilberschlag. 

No doubt that other haredi sites such as KIKAR SHABBAT or LADA'AT gaining profit out of the scandal about the "Chadrei HaCharedim".

PASHKEVIL is quoting the Israeli economy site "Globes": YNET (the Internet news site of Israel’s secular paper YEDIOT ACHARONOT) is about to purchase a certain percentage of the Israeli haredi news site KIKAR SHABBAT. 

A secular newspaper having a share in a haredi website ? I suppose that KIKAR SHABBAT is welcoming the fresh cash floating in and YNET may find its way to attract haredi readership. We will see how it goes when the deal is really taking place.

The haredi press doesn't mention a word but the secular newspaper ISRAEL HAYOM does. However, the truth is that no one has any details to tell. 

Four executive employees of the Israeli haredi Website Be'Chadrei HaCharedim were arrested by the police. Why ? The police still don't want to announce the entire truth. The case may be rocking the entire haredi press. 

There are rumours that "Be'Chadrei HaCharedim" employees may have threatened other people. The website itself claims not to know the reasons for the arrest. The police, on the other hand, have already announced further arrests of "Be'Chadrei HaCharedim" employees. 

So far, the site keeps on working as usual

This Friday, 27th January, the world is going to commemorate those millions of Jews who were killed by the Nazis during the Third Reich. On the one hand, Germany's media has been reporting against Faschism, Hitler, "Wannsee - Conference" and anything connected to the crimes carried out between 1933 - 1945. But, on the other hand, Germany's entire press still hates religious Jews and writes about them just like the anti - Semitic magazine "Der Stürmer". Only a left - wing Jew is a good Jew, this is how the German media thinks until today.

My SHEARIM blog was quoted on ARUTZ 7 today. The Belzer Rebbe and one of the two Satmarer Rebben, Rabbi Aharon Teitelbaum, may be striving for peace between the two chassidic groups. Honestly, I am not too excited about the peace rumours, as there is another person in the game called Rebbe Zalman Leib Teitelbaum. The second present Satmarer Rebbe Zalman Leib is anything but on good terms with his brother Aharon in Kiryat Yoel. 

The Belzer Rebbes wife and Rebbe Aharon's wife are sisters and, of course, both Rebbes have been in touch with each other. On very good terms, as far as I heard. Both against Rebbe Zalman Leib und the third sticking onto them is one of the three present Vishnitzer Rebben, Rabbi Israel Hager (the brother of the two mentioned wives). 

The question is whether Rebbe Aharon Teitelbaum is able to risk an official peace with Chassidut Belz because his brother, Rebbe Zalman Leib Teitelbaum, may use this against him. Rebbe Zalman Leib has already picked on his brother for having a wife who went to a school where teachers and students speak in Hebrew and not in Yiddish. Furthermore, ARUTZ 7 is mentioning the Site "Vos iz Neias" which is partially financed by Kiryat Yoel (as far as I was told). 

So, we will see how things are going to develope ...

Anti - Semitism in Israel's and Germany's Media

Israel's secular press just doesn't get it what kind of a new anti - Semitic wave their anti - haredi propaganda causes abroad. On the one hand, the Israeli government as well as the secular media is always upset and complaining about the rise of anti - Semitism all over the world; on the other hand, it is the Israeli press having a tremendous impact on this particular rise of anti - Semitism abroad. Just look at the present wave of hatred against Israel's haredi society. "Every Haredi is bad, a parasite and hates women !" This is the message being spread. Today it is the Haredim, tomorrow the press is running attacks against national religious settlers. Next week it will be the new Russian immigrants again who are, according to the media, all Mafiosi and the women are prostitutes. As soon as another Ethiopian immigrants kills his wife, Israel's media starts a new attack on all Ethiopian immigrants, as they are "all" primitive and criminals. 

However, what you don't find the secular media complaining about is, for instance, the 40,000 illegal Africans spreading in Tel Aviv . Our secular left - wing press considers those illegal Africans as the true future Israelis because they want to work and join the army. How sick can anyone be thinking that religious Jews are worth less than an illegal Muslim African coming to Israel because he wants to earn money and nothing else. The African has no ideology towards the State of Israel. Place him here today, and he will tell you that he loves Israel. Tomorrow, give him a plane ticket to Europe or the United States and he will claim to become a great American or European.

It is Israel's media having a great part in the rise of anti - Semitism as well as anti - Judaism worldwide. Lets look at the German left - wing magazine DER SPIEGEL. The magazine has always been anti - Semitic towards religious Jews and has been hating the guts out of them. The same with Israeli settlements and any right - wing Knesset member. Don't read what DER SPIEGEL has to say about haredi society these days and don't you ever read the German comments. I made the mistake and did read them and now I understand why Hitler had been so successful in Germany.

I don't see it as appropriate letting children participate in the demonstration. And especially not in the form of victims with stars from the Third Reich !

Israel's Media and its haredi hatred

This week, the haredi press is accusing the secular press of putting more fuel into the hatred issue. Secular papers as YEDIOT ACHARONOT ask women to complain about Haredim to the police in case they are spit at or assaulted. On the other hand, the haredi site KIKAR SHABBAT reports about Haredim being attacked by secular Jews. 

Why is the Israeli press running wild against Haredim ?

I have been asking myself these days, why Israel's secular and mainly left - wing press is running so much propaganda against haredi society. Iran's atomic bombs, Palestinian terror, poverty in Israel, unemployment ... hardly any word about those topics in the news but only Haredim. Israeli society sees its freedom in danger when a few Sikarikim in Beit Shemesh freak around.

Modesty War in Beit Shemesh

A few days ago, the 8 – year – old national religious girl Na’ama Margolis was attacked by Haredim who started yelling at her. The girl’s behaviour and clothing weren’t too appropriate. Since, the national religious movement as well as the secular press have been running wild. It seems to become a fashion accusing the entire haredi society and the national religious like using the opportunity of pointing out how "great" they are. Finally they can feel so liberal and understanding compared to all those "fanatic" Haredim. 

I am not yet going deeper into the subject and will do so in a separate article later on at night.

In the meantime some further news: The Beit Shemesh Municipality, Mayor Moshe Abutbul together with the police decided putting up some 400 security cameras in the streets. Also around the national religious girls’s school “Orot Banot” where Na’ama Margolis studies. 

Yesterday, the Municipality decided to take down any signs in public streets saying that men and women should not gather together. The following night, various Haredim again hung up those signs. The haredi part of the town is going wild, as more and more Israeli TV stations keep on streaming in taking pictures of Haredim. However, the Haredim of Beit Shemesh claim that it is only a few nutties from the Sikariki group causing trouble.

Why did Tanya Rosenblit use a Mehadrin bus ?

The Israeli newspaper YEDIOT ACHARONOT greeted its readers with a huge headline this morning. The 28 - year - old student Tanya Rosenblit became the latest "hero" of those women being attacked by Haredim on certain Egged buses. HERE is the article from Yediot where Tanya Rosenblit describes her bus ride from Ashdod to Jerusalem. She placed herself in the men's section of the bus and got attacked by the male haredi bus passengers. 


However, what Yediot Acharonot doesn't tell is that Ms. Rosenblit took one of the haredi Mehadrin buses and NOT an ordinary EGGED bus.  

The readership not being familiar with the different bus lines from Ashdod to Jerusalem will get the impression that the incident happened on a regular EGGED bus but this is not the case. Tanya Rosenblit apparently used one of the Mehadrin buses on purpose in order to provoke the haredi passengers and get her headlines. 

Mehadrin buses have separate seating (men in the front and women in the back) and as soon as I use such a bus, I know what to expect. I am fully aware of the separate seating but Tanya Rosenblit ignored the fact and now received her headlines.YEDIOT ACHARONOT, on the other hand, is very well - known for its anti - haredi policy and articles.

Israel's haredi press has been reporting the whole day about the incident and came to the conclusion that Tanya Rosenblit is nothing but provoking.

The above photo may give you the impression that all of tents at Rothschild Boulevard are inhabited by masses of protestors. This is not the case, as many of those tents are empty. It seems as if they are just there or that former protestors have already left. Thus, many empty tents serve as storage rooms for mattresses and further equipment.   

Don't ever get the impression that all the tents are occupied and crowded !

The Demonstration at Rothschild Boulevard: "What the media doesn't tell you"

At least once a week I am going to Rothschild Boulevard in order to see what's new at the tent demonstration against high rents and cost of living. By the way, so far, Tel Aviv's landlords are not impressed by all the mass demonstrations and no rent whatsoever has been lowered. Just the opposite: The demand for housing in Tel Aviv is extremely high, as there are jobs around the coastal area. People living in Jerusalem don't have such a big variety of jobs opportunities and especially not the higher salary paid in Tel Aviv. 


It may be a little unfair that I am always visiting the demonstration at Rothschild Boulevard, as there are various others such as in Florentin, at the Central Bus Station, in Shechunat HaTikvah, at the Ben Gurion as well as the Nordau Boulevard. However, the seven people in charge of the demonstrations reside in the Rothschild tents. Although I am not sure whether they really stay there overnight. 


Just a few days ago, an online news site reported that those seven walk around with their iPhones, take taxis to Shimon Peres' residence in Jerusalem and behave like movie stars. 
The report reminded me of a previous tent demonstration taking place about eight years ago. Then the single mother Vicky Knafo and further single mothers were demonstrating in front of the Finance Ministry in Jerusalem. And guess who was the finance minister ?
Prime Minister was Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu was his Finance Minister !


From the beginning, the single mother tent demonstration was sponsored by a left - wing organization called SHATIL. Shatil's main goal is to knock out Netanyahu, as we still see at the present demonstration. However, eight years ago, Vicky Knafo became a media star. The simple uneducated woman from Mitzpe Ramon found herself in the limelight and enjoyed herself too much. The poor version of "Madonna", so to speak. But suddenly, Vicky had a new cellphone. Obviously provided by Shatil. She received paid taxis to the broadcasting companies. Paid by Shatil. When the other demonstrators threw her out for a week or two (because Vicky had taken too much cash for herself from the demonstration fund), a Shatil employee gave her shelter in his private apartment located in the Rehavia neighbourhood. This is why I am not surprised at all when the seven present heads of the demonstrations run around with iPhones and love taxi rides. 


From what I witnessed today, the Rothschild demonstrators and the media have become best friends. They know each others names, say HELLO and, without any doubt, the head demonstrators love the cameras and the attention. No wonder that one of the ordinary demonstrators bursted out last Friday. "The seven self - appointed leaders would just show off, put themselves in front of any camera, talk nonsense and nothing has been achieved so far !" The guy saying this is right.

Anders Behring Breivik has been preparing his attacks for the past nine Years

It is unbelievable what is going on: The so - called "liberal left - wing" media has been accusing anti - Islam bloggers of causing the Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik to freak out and kill more than 90 people. Breivik hasn't even made an official statement whether articles on the Internet caused him to carry out his two attacks but the left - wing media such as the German "Der Spiegel" (known for its anti - Israel statements as well as for its Jewish religion and Jewish Orthodoxy hatred) seem to know exactly what went on in Breivik's mind. The assassin wrote comments on the WWW and this alone turns all bloggers like FJORDMAN, GATES OF VIENNA or PAMELA GELLER into spiritual murderers. 


It looks like a vast revenge campaign going on. The left is glad that it wasn't a Muslim killing more than 90 Norwegians and now the situation is being used for a hatred campaign against bloggers warning of a global Jihad. Suddenly we are all Nazis and Nationalists and FJORDMAN was even accused of being identical with Breivik.

The latest news from Norway: Breivik has been planning his attacks for the past nine years.

Arresting Rabbi DOV LIOR

Rabbi Dov Lior, (photo left) Chief Rabbi of Hebron and the nearby Kiryat Arba, is not as controversial as his Wikipedia may state. Secular Israeli Jews might follow the opinion that Rabbi Lior is an “extremist”; the religious world, however, sees him as a Rabbi who stands up and knows his job.

Yesterday (Monday), Rabbi Dov Lior got arrested by the Israeli police but was released after a few hours. The reason for the arrest was his refusal showing up at the police in order to state why he agrees with the book “Torat HaMelech” published by Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira.

Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Rabbi Dov Lior is not above Israeli law but has to keep it as every other citizen. Religious society including the two Chief Rabbis Jonah Metzger (Ashkenazi) and Shlomo Amar (Sephardi) protested against the arrest.

For about a year now, many secular Israelis, especially the left – wing media, is going wild about the book “Torat HaMelech” by Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira. 

“The book should be banned and all people involved thrown into jail !” – so the proclamation of Israel’s left – wing media. The press as well as the Shabak (internal secret service) have been running a witch – hunt against parts of the national religious and settler movement.
 
It is possible that certain statements appearing in the book could be seen as controversial but one has to understand the halachic background. Instead of dealing with the subject in a religious matter, the left, including opposition leader Zipi Livni, has behaving like a bull in a china shop without any understanding what the book is really about.

In 2009, the Israeli Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira published his book “Torat HaMelech” where he is making some statements such as “Jews have the right to kill Gentiles when they are endangering Jews. Israel’s press as well as the international media, however, just picked the headline “Jews can kill Gentiles !” Without any explanation of the entire context and meaning. This way, haters of Jewish religion started another campaign against Jewish Orthodoxy.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu definitely has his own interests because he is striving for further peace talks with Abu Mazen. The negative publicity about “Torat HaMelech” could "endanger" the peace process and Netanyahu also wants to show his “good will” towards the Palestinians. Thus, those national religious settler “fanatics” need to be punished. Nevertheless, Abu Mazen himself is not even interested in sitting together with Netanyahu.

It goes without saying that Rabbi Dov Lior is not above the law and should have gone to the police in order to make a statement why he endorsed Rabbi Shapira’s book. However, everyone now planning to complain about the book’s statements should ask himself whether he has actually read and understood the book instead of making propaganda about a topic he has no clue whatsoever.
