Besides the whole war situation, Israel is freezing. Jerusalem has 6 degrees Celsius and Tel Aviv has not much more. It is cold and all of us are sitting covered in blankets. Heaters are not too common and even if they were, the electricity bill would just kill everyone. This is why every winter, we wear warm clothes, pray for more rain and hope for warmer weather.

Not alone that is it freezing, the war situation worries us as well. Israel intends sending ground troops into Gaza and we all know what that means. Many soldiers are probably going to die. G - d willing not, but we have to be realistic. We always pay a high price and the world keeps on attacking us.

Anti - Semitism is on the rise again and a few days ago, two Israelis got shot by Arabs in a Danish shopping mall. "Only" injured but this tells us something. Especially Europe has shipped in all kinds of fundamentalist Muslims and now doesn't know how to deal with them. In the Middle Ages, the Muslims didn't succeed too much in conquering the whole of Europe but only Spain. Today, the Muslims make up a high percentage of the European population.

Reality may be sometimes hard and depressing but, nevertheless, I wish us all a happy and peaceful Shabbat. Not to forget all those Israelis living in the southern regions who are spending their Shabbat in bomb shelters.
