The following pictures were taken from a haredi Forum !
Before Lag Ba'Omer, the Edah HaCharedit and extreme groups from Mea Shearim placed another ban on the Israeli bus company EGGED.
Too much "Prizut - Prostitution" would be taking place the buses; especially on the buses to Meron. Male and female sit together and may have immodest thoughts in mind. Instead, Mea Shearim made advertising for its own "kosher" buses without wild prostitution thoughts.
EGGED, on the other hand, made lots of PR for its special offer to Meron. 71,40 Shekels (approx. less than 15 Dollar) for a ticket !
I saw many Litvaks buying those tickets at the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem.
One of the Pakshivilim (news poster) on the walls of Mea Shearim / Ge'ulah showed a "kosher map".
How do I leave the bus and get to the grave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in the most kosher way ?
"Kosher Way" here means separate genders. Men and women using two different streets.
What would have Rabbi Shimon said about all this "kosher sex" issue ?
I would really love to hear his opinion !

The Boyaner Rebbe lighting the Lag Ba'Omer fire

I believe that the Boyaner Rebbe was in Meron last year. Don't know for this year.
ReplyDeletePritzut is not translated as prostitution; it means licentiousness. Znut is prostitution. There's a huge difference in the meaning.
ReplyDeleteI don't consider myself chareidi (though some might) but I'm glad the kosher buses exist so I can go to Meron without worrying about being leered at or feeling like I'm at a rainbow gathering.

ReplyDeleteYes, I know.:-)
It is not directly prostitution in the real sense but rather immodest behaviour.
Concerning the kosher buses:
I heard this from many people; even from the national religious.
Especially relig. women prefer those kind of buses in order not to be stared at.
I can understand that but, on the other hand, no one should be forced using this or that kind of a bus.

ReplyDeleteThe Rebbe inherited the Zechus to light the main fire on the roof of the cave. He does it in the same place every year, in the years when his zeide the previous Rebbe was in Eretz Yisroel on lag BaOmer he lit there too and other years his brothers lit there. On years when the Rebbes were unable to be in Eretz Yisroel on Lag BaOmer they sent a handkercheif (or tie) to the Rav of Tzfas and made him their shliach to light for them. This zechus goes all the way back to the Rizhner who bought this zecus, it was inherited by his son the First Sadigerer and then was inherited by the first Boyaner Rebbe the Pachad Yitzchok, it was divided among his 4 sons and since the rebbe from NY was the last surviving son it was passed to him and his grandson inherited it by agreement of his uncles and mother.
