Purim is not a Jewish carnival but has a very religious background. However, it is customary to wear costumes. Especially children like to dress up as policemen, soldiers, Batman, Harry Potter, Spiderman, pirates, butterflies, you name it.

The name of G - d doesn't appear once in the "Book of Esther" and what He does is pulling the strings behind the scenes. Just as we are hiding ourselves while wearing a costume. Then it is us hiding our face behind a mask.

The former famous Israeli pop singer Miri Aloni performing at the Carmel Market this afternoon. She does so twice a week.

Israelis love to shop. Even if the bank account is empty or in overdraft. The shopping mall Dizengoff Center was crowded this afternoon.
