Chutzot HaYotzer

B"H

Every year the same summer event: Tomorrow (Monday), the International Arts and Crafts Festival Jerusalem is opening it's gates. In case you are planning a visit you can see and buy all kinds of self - made jewelry, toys etc. Anything people like to call "arts" today.

In other words, enjoy the "Kitsch".

Just be aware that you have to pay at least 40 Shekels (approx. 10 Dollar) entrance fee. Food not included !

Until a few years ago, the municipality moved "Chutzot HaYotzer" into the Ben Yehudah Mall downtown Jerusalem in order to get people back into the city center. Especially the Ben Yehudah Mall shopkeepers had complained that after the bomb attacks, customers stayed away from the center and rather shopped at the malls in the outskirts. Putting Chutzot HaYotzer into the Ben Yehudah was a great success. In particular, because it was free of charge. Then, a few years later, the event moved back to it's original place: The Sultan's Pool across the Old City and Jaffa Gate.

My personal piece of advice for you:

You can do without the event and rather invest your 40 Shekels in a more useful way !

If you cannot do without Kitsch and have to see such an exhibition, just go to Tel Aviv. Every Tuesday and Friday (throughout the year), Nahalat Binyamin Street (next to the entrance to the Carmel Market) has it's own Chutzot HaYotzer. Free of Charge !
