I have learned about an interesting custom within the Sephardic community:
The groom is stepping on the foot of his bride right under the Chuppah. Thus, the groom symbolically shows who the boss is.
If I ever married a Sephardic guy, I would not agree practicing this custom unless I can step on his foot !
