Jewish Burial with Tattoos

B"H

Especially Tel Aviv is full of Israelis with tattoos. Plenty of those tattoos can be seen of the backside of legs, on arms as well as on the rest of the body.

I find it disgusting and I am definitely not a tattoo fan. When you are young, you do things you may later regret. Let alone all the wrinkles on the tattoo when people get older.

Tattoos in Israel have become a real fashion among the secular and it is just about to start in Jerusalem as well.
But how about the Halacha (Deoraita - Biblical commandment) against any kind being scratched into your skin. Usually such people would not get buried on a regular cemetery.

Last night, I spoke to a colleague at the bakery and asked her if Jews with tattoos are being buried next to the fence.
"No, she said, those places are reserved for Jews who committed suicide. But today, even suicides are covered up and the relatives start claiming that everything was just an accident".

Does anyone of you know if Jews with tattoos are being buried on regular Jewish cemeteries ? What does the Halacha say about this subject ?

I am just curious and have thought about it for some time. Any time I see a walking tattoo.
