The Talmud Tractate Bava Metziah 42a discusses where a Jew should put his money. Imagine you are looking for a secure place for your money, where would you hide it ?
One of the talmudic answers is that the best way of guarding one's money is to bury it in the ground. However, most commentators state that a secure place for money depends on the time where a person lives. In ancient times, burying the money into the ground may have been a great hiding place but today this sounds a bit odd. The great Posek Rabbi Moshe Feinstein stated that in our days, money should be put into a bank. An honest working bank where we won't suffer from any losses.
