I've seen many videos of the Lelover tisch, and it seems to be one of the liveliest. The Rebbe also dances sometimes with great enthusiasm, which is very inspiring to watch. What really bothers me though about the Rebbe is a recent video I saw. Was it on this site? The Rebbe was handing out cigarettes to all the chassidim with a big smile on his face, and all the little kids were gathered around with big smiles on their faces, waiting for the day when they can try a cigarette. Is this something Rebbes do? Or was it just this particular video?
I don't know and don't have an explanation. Could be that it is their custom handing out cigarettes at a certain time of a year. But then I don't understand why they don't keep the Halacha that one shouldn't endanger his own health or life.
I always want to go to Lelov but, so far, it has never worked out. A Chassid told me to, at least, go to the ones in Jerusalem. But I think that their Rebbe is not really recognized or something like that.
Look at it from this side: Haredi children also drink alcohol on Purim and teenagers are so drunk that they are almost in a coma. Therefore it could be that it is a Lelov custom on Purim.
After years of living in Jerusalem, I decided to betray the city by moving to Tel Aviv.:-) In the meantime I returned to the Holy City. It is actually very good to be back in Jerusalem !!!
Nevertheless, I am still writing about Jerusalem but also include many other places in Israel.
Until some years ago, I was a Yeshiva (Michlalah) student. First with the national religious and later with the Litvishe. Also got in contact with Chassidut and this subject and lifestyle has never left me.

ReplyDeleteI don't know the video. Are you sure he handed out cigarettes ? If so, I've never seen this before.
Yes, cigarettes. And all the chassidim got so excited, and all the kids were smiling.

Will see ....
I was just wondering--could the cigarette thing be on Purim? I noticed the Haredim (including the very, very young boys) all smoke on Purim.
