Turkey has a long Jewish history and is, until today, populated by Jews. One of the Jewish places with a famous history is the city of IZMIR (Smyrna). However, Izmir also stands for a sad point in Jewish history, as the false Meshiach Shabtai Zvi was born there in August 1626.
