Independence Day: "The Breslover Na Nach Nachman Movement in Tel Aviv"

B"H

Every year on the eve of the Israeli Independence Day (Erev Yom Ha'atzma'ut), the Breslover Na Nach Nachman Movement Chassidim are dancing around in downtown Tel Aviv. Tonight I spotted them waving Israeli flags right next to Kikar Rabin where the main celebrations took place. Not too many Nanas, as quite a few of them got arrested due to the Ambash scandal:

The original Breslover Chassidim from Mea Shearim (not the ones from the Ba'al Teshuva movements but the descendants of Rabbi Nachman's students) are anti - Zionist and not celebrating the Israeli Independence Day at all !!!

One of the Breslovers was waving an Israeli flag and blowing the Shofar.

  1. "Not too many Nanas, as quite a few of them got arrested due to the Ambash scandal"

this is incredibly inaccurate information. The Ambush group is a tiny fraction of the larger Na Nach movement. Those arrests certainly did not have any effect on the majority of Na Nach's who have nothing to do with Ambash.

Regarding Israel: Daniel Ambash is THE main figure of the Na Nach Movement.

  3. I dont mean to offend you, but you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. First of all, the Keren Rabbi Yisroel Dov Osesser, which is the main publisher of the books and whom the majority of Na Nachs are involved with, has nothing to do with Daniel Ambash. Until 3 years ago it was run by Reb Yisroel's grandson, Amram Horowitz. When he passed away it was taken over by Amram's 2 sons. These were the people Reb Yisroel had left his money to in his will with explicit instructions to use it for the printing and spreading of Rebbe Nachman's books.
Although there are many Na Nachs not directly involved with the Keren, very few of them have anything to do with Ambash, and frankly many of them regard him as being kind of coo coo, even before this whole scandal began. I happen to know some of the people who were involved with Ambash. It is an extraordinarly minority of Na Nachs. And as for the whole "Saba (Reb Yisroel) is Moshiach" thing, which Ambash had a lot to do with, the VAST majority of Na Nachs reject this entirely.
Ambash also promoted going to Yerushalayim for Rosh Hashana rather than Uman. Although the numbers who go to the Yerushalayim kibutz have grown over the years, they are still uncomparable with the numbers of Na Nachs who continue to go to Uman. And even at the Yerushalayim kibits (of which I know people who go), not everyone there even is involved with Ambash, and not all of them believe that Saba is Moshiach.

Again, no offense, but you should really check your facts first hand rather than just relying on the media, which is full of sheker.

  4. By the way, I noticed on a past blog you referred to Rabbi Yisroel Dov Odesser as having been "unlearned". You should know that Rabbi Moshe Feinstein said that he was a "Gaon" and also very knowledgable in Kabbalah. Check the link.

Since Ambash got arrested last year, you don't see that many Na Nachs dancing anymore. Whereas before they were around all the time, now you hardly see them anywhere.

Furthermore, the Yahrzeit celebrations of Rabbi Israel Odesser were a total Ambash "party" and I saw hundreds of Nanas there and not only a minority.

By the way: When only Nana sites refer to a Rabbi Moshe Feinstein and Rabbi Israel Odesser - this is not enough for me.

  6. They have the Rabbi Feinstein haskama there for you to see, with Rabbi Feinsteins signature and stamp. What more do you need?
And yes, it is a legit haskama. I have spoken to both Rabbi Dovid Feinstein (Rabbi Moshe's son) and Berel Feinstein (Rabbi Dovid Feinstein's son) and they confirmed that Rabbi Moshe met with Saba and wrote the haskama.
Furthermore, Berel Feinstein, who was there when Saba came, confirmed to me that Rabbi Moshe ACCEPTED THE PETEK AS BEING A GENUINE MIRACLE and regarded Saba as being a Tzadik.

  7. And by the way, basing your entire notion that Daniel Ambash is the main figure in Na Nach on the fact that you seem to see less Na Nach's in the street now preety weak. Try getting in touch with the Keren Rabb Israel Dov Odesser, or speaking to Na Nach's personally (other than those from the Ambash clan), or looking at Saba's will where he leaves his grandson and grandchildren in charge of all Na Nach activity, without any mention of Daniel Ambash.
Even so it should be noted that the ONLY central figures in Na Nach are Rabbi Nachman and Saba.

I got your points and sent out some e - mails to different chassidic rabbis doing some research. I will let you know the result !

What does interest me is how people (like you) can believe in this one person (Saba) claiming something and starting a whole new group within a group (Breslov). You may compare it to Chabad but to me the entire Petek - Story differs from Chabad and anything else.

There are people in Israel considering the Na Nach Movement as a cult. The same with the Taliban women, by the way. Actually there is an official cult help support in Tel Aviv and I am planning to talk to them this summer and see what they have to say about the Ambash family and other so - called religious cults.
