In Brief

B"H

Before the sirene goes off for Yom Hashoah (Holocaust memorial Day) in another 45 minutes, here some brief information:

1. In one comment I was asked to write more on Alte Feiga Teitelbaum, as there is nothing on the Internet about her. Well, actually there is but I do write more on Satmar. Including of the content of Rebbe Yoel Teitelbaum's book "Vayoel Moshe". The only difficulty is, as usual, the time.:-)

2. A fact bothering me a lot:
I am giving out lots of information on this blog and the idea that people steal and use it for their own purposes makes me angry. In the end, they tell others that it is their information and don't refer to this blog. However, can I avoid theft ? Can any author avoid it ? As soon as one goes public, people are tempted to steal.

I decided to continue giving information but sometimes in a disguised way only readers with haredi background understand. Some piece of information is kept rather short and without any name of the source. This is the only thing I can do.

However, people from the outside haredi world should be ashamed of themselves trying to become a cashcow by stealing from others !

  1. Does this mean you stand at attention during the siren? When I was in yeshiva in e'y the hanhola did not encourage or discourage it...we were told to do what we thought best. Personally, I joined a group of bocherim to learn mishnayos l'ilui neshomas. when i saw the russian born janitor crying (at the fact we were not standing) i had to explain in my limited yiddish (as he spoke no hebrew or english) what were doing was to honor the memory of the kdoshim by learning torah.

Yes, I do stand attention during the siren ! A year ago, a certain Chasid told me that he does so in public but not when he is at home.

However, I do think that learning Torah or saying Tehillim is a very positive way of honouring the dead.
