The Chabad Soup Kitchen in Canaan / Zfat

B"H

Chassidut Chabad has two soup kitchen for the poor in the northern Israeli town of Zfat (Safed). A big one is located in the old city and a smaller one in the new neighbourhood called Canaan.

Almost two weeks ago, I volunteered at the Canaan soup kitchen and have to say that I was quite impressed. Great food from the cook Motti. Several people volunteer and Shachar Shoshani is running the soup kitchen. Food is available for lunch and the soup kitchen, looking more like a restaurant, openes its door at 1pm. Usually approximately 15 - 20 people from the area come to eat. Russians, Israelis, all kinds of Jews and you hardly see that those people would eat at a soup kitchen at all.

Here people are being treated nicely and with respect.

Chicken, rice and noodles.
