On Wednesday, 22 June 2011, the Israeli “Home Front Command - Pikud HaOref” is carrying out its annual national exercise. Or in other words, all Israelis have to participate and should be rushing to the closest bomb shelter after hearing the sirens. These days, the “Home Front Command” is promoting next week’s exercise in special ads published in Israel’s daily newspapers. Next Wednesday, sirens will be heard all over the country. The first siren sound will be at 11am and a second one at 7pm. As soon as a person hears the siren sound, he should rush to a bomb shelter nearby. Further it says that all of us should know in advance in what bomb shelter to go.
This exercise of the Pikud HaOref is for Israeli citizens ONLY ! Tourists don’t have to pay attention to the sirens and can just continue doing their business as usual !

ReplyDeleteThat rule is non-sense! Do you think a bomb does make a difference between a native of the Land and a tourist? Tourists should also learn how to be protected when visiting the medinah, and it enables them to be reminded that the medinah is a dangerous place to be. A bomb lashed out on the medinah is not programed to avoid tourists and Arabs to only kill a Jewish citizen of the medinah.
We shall hear only good news (eventhough the new Egyptian regime seems to break all previous agreements signed with the medinah. There are some signs that show that a war is imminent.) and may Hashem protect them!

ReplyDeleteThat's true but when you look at Israeli mentality you may realize that it will already be a big mess to squeeze all Israelis into the bomb shelters. :-)))
Reality looks like this: As soon as a war may be ahead, usually tourists are leaving the country and we don't really have to deal with them. Just look at the first Gulf War.
I also noticed that when there is a war, there is an increase of aliyah to the medinah from American or French Jewry.
