The picture published by the Israeli daily "Yediot Acharonot" today, showing the 3 - year - old Toldot Aharon boy almost starved to death by his mother. At least this is what the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital and the police claim.
Is this picture real or a photoshop ?
I am having serious doubts if the photo is real. Not only because the boy doesn't wear a kipa and doesn't have Pejes (sidecurls) but because I am having a bad feeling about it. I don't think that the doctors would allow such a picture being taken and then published. Besides Yediot Acharonot, there were not further reactions whatsoever.

Maybe you should light your trash can on fire while you're at it.

ReplyDeleteIn case you know how the press works, you should be careful. I just had my own experiences in the case of the arrested Ku Klux Klan guy in Tel Aviv a few days ago and this was enough. Coming out of this experience, I saw what the press does with its new treasure: The abusive mother from Mea Shearim.
So, there is a reason to be careful.
By the way, the Israeli daily MAARIV is referring to the picture today. It says that the child has put on 2kg and feels much better.
I dont believe the picture is real either.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering why they would take a chance to put in a fake picture and risk a court case. As for the kippa and peyos, I am guessing that because his hair fell out there is nothing and, I doubt if a hospital would keep a kippah on a critically ill child. Still, we don't know. I think it is very dangerous to have all this speculation. It only seems to make things worse.
ReplyDeleteHi Miriam,
ReplyDeleteI of course know nothing of the accuracy of the picture, but I believe that the lack of peyos (ie hair) could be attributed to chemotherapy and/or starvation. As such, the boy could easily be chasidic and not have sidecurls.

ReplyDeleteIf this is really the boy, why was this picture taken and given to the press. Especially to a newspaper hating anyone haredi such as YEDIOT ACHARONOT. In England you would call this paper THE SUN and in America maybe the NATIONAL INQUIRE. Yesterday (Friday) YEDIOT published another picture of the boy almost all over its front page.
The second largest newspaper in Israel, MAARIV acted carefully. The presented the pictures but concentrated on facts and in their weekend edition, you can find a great article with further facts.
There, MAARIV is asking the question why the mother was ordered to the Mea Shearim social service last week and suddenly, without any explanation, the cops jumped on her.
And why was she taken to jail and not given any psychiatric help ?
I am not saying that the mother is guilty or innocent but I am just raising some questions; and MAARIV did the same.
