A Short Escape

B"H

Many readers may be bothered or even bored by all these abusive mother stories. Nevertheless, in Israel, and particularly in Jerusalem, this is an important subject at the moment.

In order to escape for a few hours and also relax from the bakery job, I went to Tel Aviv this morning. At the coast, live goes on as usual and people here have it much easier. Not too many religious people at sight (not to mention the haredi Bnei Brak). Whereas in Jerusalem you can feel all the tensions right away.

With skirt or without, I don't feel comfortable walking around in Ge'ulah or Mea Shearim these days. People stare and think that you are a spy from the police. Yesterday, one cop got attacked by some extremists from Mea Shearim. Other extremists tried to burn up a police car but didn't succeed. After being injured in a traffic accident, one Haredi (it didn't say which haredi direction) refused to be taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital for treatment.

Tensions everywhere and it feels like certain Haredim are just waiting for the "bomb" to explode again.
In Tel Aviv there are other issues but not less severe. Mayor Ron Chulda'i is banning more and more African refugees and, furthermore, wants to get rid of the homeless.
Is Tel Aviv becoming a city for the rich and upper middle class only ?

Today I just don't care too much about the mother, the rich, the tensions at the border to Lebanon. Oi, E - lokim, just let me have my own life for one day !
