Update on the arrested Toldot Aharon Mother

Yesterday, in the late afternoon, the Toldot Aharon mother who is accused of starving her 3 - year - old son was taken to court for another hearing. Judge Mrs. Dotan decided that there will be a second hearing this afternoon. Originally the meeting was set for the morning but Rabbi Frohlich, in whose house the TA mother lives under house arrest, could not appear in court due to personal reasons. Judge Dotan set the hearing for the afternoon.

It says that the mother is willing to enter psychological treatment and this should be granted to her instead of putting her into jail. If judge Dotan decides for jail, new riots are to be expected. But we will see what is going to be decided this afternoon.

Still, the whole case is handled extremely emotional in Israel. People saw the pictures of the starved son in the papers and for most of them, the mother is guilty. According to many Haredim, a special committee should be set up in order to investigate the entire history of the case. Everyone, including the press, is just claiming facts and so - called neighbours of the woman write comments in forums. It is ridiculous because if the woman lived in the middle of Mea Shearim or even worse, in the Toldot Aharon backyard in Shivtei Israel Street, no real neighbour whatsoever, would use the Internet let alone write any comments. On the Internet, even I can make a claim that she is my neighbour.
