Shabbat in Safed

B"H

Going to Safed this Shabbat !

Safed is a small town located north of Tiberias. The most famous personality of the town should be the ARI (the Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak Luria, 1534 - 1572). Men can still visit his Mikveh and his grave can be found on the Safed cemetery.

Safed used to be one of the most famous place for the Kabbalists such as Rabbi Moshe Cordovero, Rabbi Moshe Alshich, the great Rabbi Joseph Caro or Rabbi Shlomo HaLevi Alkabetz (who wrote the famous Shabbat song "Lecha Dodi").

Not too far away is Meron, the place where Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai is buried !

Especially Chabad and Chassidut Breslov are very active in Safed ! However, you can find other chassidic groups as well.
