In brief: Who was Yechezkel the Prophet ?

B"H

Yeshayahu, Yirmeyahu and Yechezkel - these are the names of some of the greatest prophets ever and, according to time, Yechezkel is the last one.

Yechezkel ben Buzi (Yechezkel, the son of Buzi), was a Cohen and prophesized in Babylon. He was the only prophet who prophesized for the Jewish people outside Israel although there was an exception with Yirmeyahu in Egypt. We don't have any details about how Yechzekel lived before the Diaspora (Galut). However, there is an idea that Yechezkel had already been a prophet back in Israel.

What is the meaning of the name YECHEZKEL ?
At the end, we see the word "E - L" which is one of the names of G - d.
"Yichazek" means "to strengthen" and the grammar root "Chazak" means "strong".
Thus, Yechezkel means something like "Strong G - d" or "G - d is strengthening".
