It depends where you look at. Concerning Haredim with religious doubts or any other personal problems, it is indeed. The question is how society deals with personal issues. Going to a psychologist makes you look mentally ill in the eyes of society. The Shidduch issue and the kids Yeshivot are at stake. However, there are some haredi doctors providing help.
Nevertheless, the matter is being kept very quiet and one going to a doctor does not publicize it.:-)
And what is the picture supposed to ell us? That Haredim are living in darknes, while other people are living in and with light, or the other way around?
Haredim don't live in darkness and others do not only see the light. The picture more reminded me of different states of minds. People being depressed within haredi society; for whatever reason. And others leaving society but are caught in their won thoughts of the past.
After years of living in Jerusalem, I decided to betray the city by moving to Tel Aviv.:-) In the meantime I returned to the Holy City. It is actually very good to be back in Jerusalem !!!
Nevertheless, I am still writing about Jerusalem but also include many other places in Israel.
Until some years ago, I was a Yeshiva (Michlalah) student. First with the national religious and later with the Litvishe. Also got in contact with Chassidut and this subject and lifestyle has never left me.
Is depression an serious issue within the haredi community in israel?
