This year's Yahrzeit of the Baba Sali, Rabbi Israel Abuchzeira, was commemorated on 10 January. According to the worldy calendar !

ReplyDeleteUntil I myself went to the grave of the Baba Sali last August, I didn't know the custom.
What people do is going up to the burning fire and throwing in small Kvitlach. Meaning, people write wishes for well - being etc. on a piece of paper and throw it into the fire. It really looks like a Sephardi custom.
This way they hope that the wish may come true.
Actually I found it quite an interesting custom.
