No Women in Mea Shearim on Sukkot ?

B"H

The haredi site "Kikar Shabbat" is stating that there would be an agreement between the Edah HaCharedit and the Sikarikim not to let any WOMEN into Mea Shearim during Sukkot (end of September). Whereas men celebrate and go to Tishes and Synagogues, women have to stay at home because they are not allowed walking around in the crowded streets.

It is an absolute crazy fanatic minority demanding separate buses or separate sidewalks. Today the secular (anti - haredi) paper "Yediot Acharonot" publishes on its front page a photo of a Breslover Chassid whose head is totally covered with a Schmattes. The paper is gossiping that the next year will be even more fanatic and the Haredim would go nuts.

I just wonder what Avraham Avinu or King David would say about separate sidewalks and women are not allowed to leave the house.

However, there are claims that the "Sukkot Agreement" doesn't exist and everything is a lie.
We will see and I will test it myself !

One reader wrote me that only certain parts of Mea Shearim will be closed for women. For instance, the main road Mea Shearim Street.

However, if you have a look at the map or the location as a whole: Closing off Mea Shearim Street for women is a desaster. I remember that the Toldot Aharon did this partially about two years ago and we women had to walk all the way around Shomrei Emunim Street. A pain in the neck but the real problem starts as soon as you want to visit different locations inside the Mea Shearim Market. Example: The Toldot Avraham Yitzchak. The market is partially closed off and women always have to either sneak in or wait until the worst male traffic is over.:-))
