Anat Hoffman's Tallit Provocation

B"H

A few weeks ago, Israel's female Reform activist Anat Hoffman was questioned by the police for wearing a prayer shawl (Tallit) at the Kotel (Western Wall). In this video she is making the typical Reform claim that only the Orthodox have all rights at the holy sites in Israel.

The Reform women do have their own place at the so - called "Kotel HaKatan" which is located a few meters off the famous Kotel. Hoffman showing up at the regular Kotel with a Tallit was just a provocation and has nothing to do with religion. If she was religious, she would accept Torah law.

A woman wearing a Tallit does not go against Halacha; however, today it is not customary anymore. If Anat Hoffman wants her "free world" she should complain to G - d already making gender separations in the Beit HaMikdash (Temple).

I am a Feminist too but everyone should admit (at least a tiny bit) that men and women do have different tasks in this world. Otherwise G - d would have all of us created with the same sex.
Furthermore, the Arizal (Rabbi Yitzchak Luria, 1534 - 1572) taught that wearing a Tallit causes a man to influence certain Sefirot in this world and, thus cause a Tikun (rectification).

  1. Anat Hoffman was present at the Kotel on Rosh Hodesh November 18, 2009, but it was Nofrat Frenkel who was originally arrested.

Anat Hoffman was questioned by the police thereafter on January 5, 2020 regarding the November 18 and December 18, 2009 occurences.

The area where Women of the Wall regularly read from the Torah is referred to as "Robinson's Arch".

  3. You should know that these women are a minority. The majority of women appreciate having the separation and are happy with praying the way we have for years. The Kotel is an historic site--and people come for that purpose as well as the spiritual experience. If they want to act like men they should do it in their assigned place and stop intruding on the rest of us. They only want publicity and in doing so are a disgrace.
