A highly recommended article on the Sephardic kosher certificate "Badatz Beit Yosef" !
However, the Hechsher is not recognized by everybody and especially Badatz Belz (and probably the Edah ?) totally reject it.

WHat are the reasons that Belze rejects Beit Yossef? Is it due to leniency relied upon by BBY or political?

ReplyDeleteCould be either and I will ask our Mashgiach (a Belzer Chassid) as soon as I see him.
About the Hechsher of the Edah Belz says that their Mashgichim (from the Edah) don't check as thouroughly as Belz. Last week the Mashgiach gave me the Humus as an example. He heard that the Edah doesn't check every chick pea.
But the issue with the Edah is definitely also political !!!
The Rabbanut (Mehadrin) is not good enough because their Mashgishim do not check enough either.
From our bakery with Belz I can tell you that we are only allowed to use Belzer ingredients.
If anything is being delivered from Beit Yosef or the Edah, Belz insists on returning it !
